The only excuse I can determine is that I moved from one apartment to another within the same county. I didn't even move out of the same county in the same state. I thought I submitted change of address to everyone. Yet somehow it was more important to remove my registration status than allow me to vote. Luckily I discovered this in time to re-register (deadline is the 14th in Oregon).
Side note: my vote was nullified in a previous year's election here in Oregon because I got a letter back from the elections division saying the signature I'd made on the outside of the vote-by-mail envelope didn't match the one they had on file. There was no time and no way suggested for me to correct the situation at the time.
