About Scarborough and his harping on people who are buying flat screen TVs as
being somehow emblematic of the pain that America is not feeling economically. This just pisses me off to no end. The CONGRESS MANDATED that we all convert to digital television this next year. Analog television are being phased out. Now I know that there are conversion boxes available and we have purchased a couple.

Joey, not all of us can afford to go to plays on Broadway or to fancy DC parties. We can't jet all over the place. TV is sometimes the cheapest place to catch a movie. Our family doesn't go to the theater. We wait till a film comes to television to catch it. I just needed to say this because I'm sick of people being mocked by that asshole.

1. Joey is a shallow POS. However, they surround him with submissives or sycophants so that
he can spew his right wing BILE. :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

2. i agree. we either wait for
movies to come to TV or we rent from netflix -- a helluva a lot cheaper than going to the movies.

3. Wonder how Scabrous is feeling today, with the market down ...
I'd like to think that he's able to feel our pain a
little better on a day like today.

On a related note, I can't wait to see Tweety this
afternoon. Whenever the market tanks, he gets MAD
AT RETHUGS ...

4. That was our justification
when we bought our new TV a couple months ago. When people can't afford to go anywhere because gas is too high and movies too expensive, it just makes sense to entertain yourself at home. Besides, winter's coming and who wants to drive around in this stuff -- looking out my window at the snow coming down, as we speak.

5. Amazing that a Republican would say something like that.
Is it class warfare? When they were talking about giving rich people tax breaks the Republicans said it was their money and they had a right to invest that money in offshoring American jobs.

What everyone fails to recognize is that many Americans aren't paying their fair share of America's expenses. It's catching up to us now. Those who are least to blame are those young people who go out and buy a TV to help themselves deal with working in America.

6. Almost all TVs available now are flat screens.
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 03:31 PM by Billy Burnett
Hardly any big box stores carry CRT TVs anymore.

When broadcast TV goes digital, and people can't afford cable/satellite service nor digital broadcast converters w/antenna, they/we are going to be stuck huddled around radios. With nothing but Rush and Insannity.

Mission accomplished?

7. Mr. Scarborugh may wish to reconsider
I think he'll find that if people don't have televisions, Mr. Scarborough may lose his current employment.

8. Way to support struggling businesses, Joe! Discourage shoppers.
Isn't that what your buddy W. said we oughta do as our patriotic duty when the nation is in trouble?

10. Flat screen TV's and TV's with digital tuners are two different things.
Both flat screen and CRT TV's can receive either analog or digital depending upon what type of tuner they have.

11. Let's see Joe
Our TV died earlier this year. We had to get a new one and the only ones that are being sold now are the Flat Screen TVs. Plus there is that little digital conversion thingy that was mandated and is making us buy the TVs.

12. Just looked at Best Buy's site - only FOUR tube-type TVs available
out of some 220+ different models sold!

"Tube-type" being defined as a non-flat screen style...

13. I bought a flat panel HDTV a few months back.
And when The Dark Knight comes out on DVD, I'll be able to watch it then (but not before then). We don't go to the movies.

14. I finally bought a flat screen this year, but not on credit
I assume it's fun for Joe to judge because he has more money than most, but there are plenty of Americans who budget and save up for the big items.

Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 04:22 PM by high density
I bought a $60 tuner box, $40 of which was subsidized by the US Government. In fact, I didn't even need it since I'm on cable. I just wanted to see what over the air digital transmission looked like. Nobody is being forced to buy a new television.
