Robert Kennedy Jr: If Palin Wants To Play Guilt-By-Association Then Media Should Discuss Her Secessionist Party Ties

Alaskan Independence Party: The Last Refuge of a Scoundrel

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/robert-f-kennedy-jr/alaskan-independence-part_b_133261.html

In 2004, America's malleable mainstream media allowed itself to be manipulated by artful Republican operatives into devoting weeks of broadcast attention and drums of ink to unfairly desecrating John Kerry's genuine Vietnam heroics while obligingly muzzling serious discussion of George W. Bush's shameful wartime record of evasion and cowardice.

Last week found the American media once again boarding Republican swift boats against this season's Democratic candidate armed with unfair and hypocritical attacks artfully designed by GOP strategists to distract attention from the cataclysmic outcomes of Republican governance. Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin has taken to faulting Senator Barack Obama for his casual acquaintance with a respected Illinois educator Bill Ayers, who forty years ago was a member of the Weathermen, a movement active when Obama was eight and which he has denounced as "detestable." Palin argues that the relationship proves that Obama sees "America as being so imperfect that he is palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

The Times dedicated a page one article to Obama's relations with Ayers and CNN's Anderson Cooper obliged Palin by rewarding her reckless accusations about Obama's patriotism with a major investigative report. Fox, meanwhile, is still riveting its audience with wall to wall coverage of this pressing irrelevancy.

But if McCarthy-era guilt-by-association is once again a valid political consideration, Palin, it would seem, has more to lose than Obama. Palin, it could be argued, following her own logic, thinks so little of America's perfection that she continues to "pal around" with a man--her husband, actually--who only recently terminated his seven-year membership in the Alaskan Independence Party. Putting plunder above patriotism, the members of this treasonous cabal aim to break our country into pieces and walk away with Alaska's rich federal oil fields and one-fifth of America's land base--an area three-fourths the size of the Civil War Confederacy.

AIP's charter commits the party "to the ultimate independence of Alaska," from the United States which it refers to as "the colonial bureaucracy in Washington." It proclaims Alaska's 1959 induction as a state "as illegal and in violation of the United Nations charter and international law."

AIP's creation was inspired by the rabidly violent anti-Americanism of its founding father Joe Vogler, "I'm an Alaskan, not an American," reads a favorite Vogler quote on AIP's current website, "I've got no use for America or her damned institutions." According to Vogler AIP's central purpose was to drive Alaska's secession from the United States. Alaska, says current Chairwoman Lynette Clark, "should be an independent nation."

Vogler was murdered in 1993 during an illegal sale of plastic explosives that went bad. The prior year, he had renounced his allegiance to the United States explaining that, "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government." He cursed the stars and stripes, promising, "I won't be buried under their damned flag...when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home." Palin has never denounced Vogler or his detestable anti-Americanism.

Palin's husband Todd remained an AIP party member from 1995 to 2002. Sarah can be described in McCarthy-era palaver as a "fellow traveler." While retaining her Republican registration, she attended the AIP's 1994 convention where the party called for a draft constitution to secede from the United States and create an independent nation of Alaska. The McCain Campaign has reluctantly acknowledged that she also attended AIP's 2000 Convention. She apparently found the experience so inspiring that she agreed to give a keynote address at the AIP's 2006 convention and she recorded a video greeting for this year's 2008 convention. In other words, this is not something that happened when she was eight!

So when Palin accuses Barack of "not seeing the same America as you and me," maybe she is referring to an America without Alaska. In any case, isn't it time the media start giving equal time to Palin's buddy list of anti-American bombers and other radical associates?

10. THANK YOU! How do we know her run for VP isn't a plot
to do harm to our nation?

Just because Todd is no longer an active member of AIP doesn't mean he isn't a silent member. He could have become inactive because of Sarah's opportunistic approach to become Alaskan governor.

Isn't there a story out there about Vogler's plans in the 1990s to use our mortal enemy - Iran - to address the UN to plead his case against the United States?

How do we know they aren't plants for a terror organization? Bad people often project. They are saying very bad things about Obama. Enough to make some wonder if they aren't trying to divert attention from themselves.

Finally, Sarah can say she was not an AIP member, but she is guilty as close association - she consorted and lived with a man who was!

The Palins literally make me sick. I'm disgusted with all of them.

Use their dirty tricks back onto them - they deserve it and have earned it.

of the other terrorist group that has already trained one terrorist to blow up the federal building in Oklahoma killing hundreds.

If elected, she and her husband will allow their terrorist friends to rule Alaska and then slowly take over the rest of the country.

21. How about a photo of her autographing a AIP call for Constitutional Convention
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 09:52 PM by sce56
From a previous post

Last week, the NYT published a widely-read story about the way Sarah Palin treated her friends and foes as the Wasilla mayor. The photo leading the article, supplied by the Heath family, shows Palin flanked by the council in 1998, two years into her mayoral tenure. If you scroll down, however, the article offers a second photo, also supplied by the family, of Palin when she was still a Wasilla councilwoman. (Although undated, she was a city council member from '92 - '96.) The photo is one of those easy-to-pass-by, standard sitting-at-your-desk shots in front of your name plate.

The picture, however, is also one of those published by The Times you are invited to click to enlarge.

Doing so, what you can suddenly make out quite clearly is what Palin chose to be photographed attending to, which is a newsletter with a photo of a guy in a suit, the page headlined with the title: "Con-Con Call." A "con-con" call, if (like me) you're not versed in government-speak, is a call for a constitutional convention, intended to either revise or completely rewrite the constitution of, say, one of the states of the Union.

The point is, and what the photo telegraphs is that, even at this early stage of her local career, Palin is revealing herself as an activist officeholder with not just ambitious, but much larger and radical notions.

Also note she is RINGLESS! Must have been the time she was fooling around on Todd!

Call in those favors, make it viral, hit the talk shows--call Letterman, make a speech.............

Or be politically mindful: get it on the record in an underneath sort of way so it can be dredged up at some significantly later time?

I'm grouchy because I want these top tier surrogates to be visibly involved, all over the networks--this is crunch time and Dem party leaders need to be tag-teaming relentlessly. If this is happening already and the media isn't covering it, well, goddamn to me.

"... Then Media Should Discuss..."?----I'm just sayin'......YOU can get it done.

24. How about a bomb by bomb comparison? Anyone remember Don Bolles?
The music stations on my car radio were all playing commercials, so I hit the AM button.

The stand-in for 'The great One' on the Mark Levine show was saying, "can you imagine if McCain had some sort of association, say, with an abortion clinic bomber? Would the media ever let go of that story?"

Actually, the bombing association that actually exists is much worse than that. Cindy McCain's father, Jim Hensley, went to Federal Prison after WWII, the fall guy for a racketeer named Kemper Marley, Arizona's richest man...

It's all summarized here:

http://www.democrats.com/john-mccain-married-to-the-mob

the father of McCain's wife, James Hensley, was convicted by a federal jury in U.S. District Court of Arizona in March 1948 on seven counts of filing false liquor records. Hensley also was charged with conspiracy to hide from federal authorities the names of persons involved in a liquor industry racket with two companies he managed, United Sales Company in Phoenix and United Distributors in Tucson.

The umbrella company, United Liquor, at that time held a monopoly in Arizona, organized and managed by Kemper Marley, who was accused of mob ties by a reporter who was murdered in 1977.

Silverman and Dougherty report that by 1955, Hensley had launched a Budweiser distributorship in Phoenix, "a franchise reportedly bestowed upon him by Marley, who was never indicted in the 1948 liquor-law-violation case – or a subsequent one – despite his controlling role in the liquor distribution businesses."

According to Marley's longtime public relations man, Al Lizanetz, the Marley liquor empire was founded by the Bronfman family dynasty of Canada which operated Allied Finance Company, Northern Export Company and Distillers Corporation – the Seagrams, Ltd. empire.

As chronicled by the "Rumrunners and Prohibition" video shown popularly on the History Channel, during the 1920s, the Bronfman family made millions in bootlegging, accounting for half the illegal liquor crossing the border, working in a profitable distribution deal with the infamous mobster Meyer Lansky, who later moved on to establish the crime syndicates in the casinos of Havana, Cuba, in the 1940s and 50s.

Arizona in the 1970s drew a "who's who" of organized crime figures seeking to retire in the sun, including Rochester, N.Y., mob boss Joe Bonanno, who spent his last days along the Lake Havasu shores and in a quiet home in Tucson.

In 1977, after Arizona Republic reporter Don Bolles was killed when his car was blown up by the mob in a parking lot, a team of 36 journalists from 27 news organizations, known as IRE, published an 80,000 word 23-part series on organized crime in Arizona.

Dan Nowicki and Bill Muller, reporting in the Arizona Republic March 1, 2007, documented that in 1953, Hensley was again charged with falsifying records at Marley's liquor firms.

Hensley was found not guilty after being defended by William Rehnquist, the future chief justice of the Supreme Court, Nowicki and Muller wrote.

...Yes, IF ONLY McCain's association with the man who (very, very possibly) was responsible for the bundle of dynamite planted under Don Bolles' car, ever even makes it to a mainstream media story...

(We can only dream. This is, after all, the United States of America. A Free Press in this country is only a memory...)

Not sure this article is on public access part of site but here is the very first real expose of how extreme this woman is. It's obvious now why McSame is keeping such full lock down on press.

Meet Sarah Palin’s radical right-wing pals

Extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin’s political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. “Her door was open,” says Chryson — and still is.
