Ughhhhhhhhhhh...McCain campaign left another automated message on
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 01:28 PM by my3boyz
my phone full of lies about Obama(votes, etc). They leave the RNC number at the end of the message (but it says it was paid for by McCain/Palin). Anyway, I called the number to tell them to stop calling me and it was automated. :( OH and I live in VA!

3. I don't know if this will help YOU, but I was receiving 6-8 calls a day
on my cell phone. I won't answer the call if I don't recognize the number,, but I check the number on the net to see who it was. The calls I was receiving were coming from an unknown caller. I decided to use my landline and call it anyway. I reached an auto answering system that said "you have reached the call Center. Please enter your password." Of course I didnt have one, and my guess was wrong and I was disconnected. I contacted the Do Not Call web site and sent them a request to please HELP! I received the following response and I filed a complaint as they instructed. It took about 3 days, but the calls STOPPED! I haven't received one since and it's been about 3 weeks.

Here's their response:

If your number has been on the National Do Not Call Registry for at least 31 days and you receive a call from a telemarketer that you believe is covered by the National Do Not Call Registry, you can file a complaint at the registry's Web site at www.donotcall.gov, using the File a Complaint page. You must know either the name or the phone number of the company that called you. You also must provide the date that the company called you and your registered phone number. You may provide your name and address, but it's not required for you to submit a complaint. You may also call the registry's toll-free number at (1-888-382-1222) to file a complaint; for TTY, call 1-866-290-4236. You may wish to file complaints each time that you receive a call that you believe is covered. If you wish to include more information about a complaint or believe you have been the victim of fraud, you can also direct consumer complaints to either www.ftc.gov or 1-877-FTC-HELP.

4. Rethuglicans frequently abuse the National DNC Registry - why?
Politicans are exempted from that rule.

Democrats only do it maybe once a day.

6. At what point do they cease being politicians & become telemarketers?
As I interpret it, the politician & his campaign should be exempt, but also provide a method for individuals to tell them to STOP CALLING ME!

Once those calls are made from anyone outside the Campaign, they become telemarketers! After all, they are not promoting themselves, they're trying to sell you something!

7. Now Gilmore just called! I'm just not going to answer
my phone if I don't recognize the number. This one was an 877 number. The McCain one was a PRIVATE caller.
