McCain would be in BETTER shape right now if he would have picked a more viable VP. Make no mistake, part of BO pulling away at this moment is that the middle recognizes she has NO place, NO PLACE, a presidential ticket. Had put his ego aside and picked a strong running mate, like Romney, he would be well in the game, had he even picked someone unknown, but better prepared/qualified, like Pawlenty or Cantor, he would be in much better shape.

What/who Palin appeals to is the extreme right wing who would get behind WHOEVER it was. Again, if it was Cantor they would find something to pump him up, if it was Pawlenty they would have found something to pump her up.
