What Do We Win ??
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 11:41 AM by kentuck
There are cheers and all types of hoopla over this election, but if we win, what do we inherit? Rather than rejoicing, perhaps we should be mourning? We will get an economy that is getting worse by the hour. People are losing jobs every day. We are up to our eyeballs in debt. We have two wars going on at one time, at least. Our reputation is shot. We are approaching Third World status. We have no manufacturing base of which to speak. We are in a national crisis for which no one has a solution. There are no leaders. Congress is on vacation. People are losing their life savings and their 401K's are going broke. The country is deeply divided politically. We are spending a trillion and a half dollars on a bloated Defense budget every two years. And a black guy with little experience and an old guy with one foot in the grave are running for President of the United States. Tell me again, why we should celebrate? What do we win??

1. OK, let's go back to 1932...
...and with the exception of "black guy with little experience (!)" you could say just about the same thing about FDR challenging Hoover. Who the Fuck cares? We're all doomed!

4. Okay. I'll tell you what we win.
Since no one wants to respond...We win the chance to survive. We win the opportunity to have someone on our side vs the side of Big Business and corporations. We win the possibility that we will have leadership that is more intelligent and is not locked into a Middle Ages mindset. We win the right to once again have hope in our lives and in our country. We win the belief that we can change the present status quo. We must win. Or we will surely lose severely.

5. Controll
Which means we stand a decent chance of doing something about it.
