3. The elderly poor don't pay, children don't pay, the disabled
don't pay, the impoverished don't pay, and the very wealthiest of us all don't pay, so it could be a true statement.

And I don't think you pay taxes from your salary as a soldier, either.

If McCain (McGrumpy) changes any of that - it will be to see that those damn little brats starting sweeping the streets or something at recess time!

7. Unless it has changed since I got out,
military members do pay federal taxes on their basic pay. Allowances (quarters, subsistence, uniforms, etc.) are not taxed.

9. I was trying to remember how my first husband explained all that
He was drafted for Vietnam against his will, but he said there was a tax perk as far as some of the money he earned while serving.

Your explanation makes sense.

10. Those serving in war zones often get tax breaks for the time they
are in the zone. I do not know the details.

5. I suppose there COULD be a smidgon of truth to that IF YOU COUNT
ALL THE CHILDREN! I honestly don't know the number of adult Americans v/s the number of children, but it seems logical to assume there are at least a 50/50 split between the two.

That's the way Pubs talk. They tak ONE itty-bitty piece of truth and weave a BIG LIE around it!
