I didn't hear of Fux until about 1999--I just wondered how they will handle it when Obama wins.
Denial?

5. They were launched October 1996.
Same year.

Reaganite Rupert Murdick was a man on a mission - to control the (corporate and republican) message.

This channel is a huge reason why a) we got Bewsh and b) we were this dangerously close to a 1984-ish Puke-controlled plutocracy.

And it ain't over yet.

6. They'll love it.
If Republicans love something more than being in power it's playing the victim. Secretly, I bet Limbaugh, Hannity, and others of their ilk are chomping at the bit to play the "woe is me" card for eight years.

8. It will be job security and increased ratings with Dems in power.
They want it as much as we do, seriously. They will make a fortune off of bashing President Obama. Millions and millions.

7. "In 1996, Fox established the Fox News Channel, a 24-hour cable news station"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_Corporation

I don't see what date it went on the air, but would think it would have been on before November.
Here is an interesting line from the entry for FOXNEWS:

"In 1995, the Fox network became the object of scrutiny from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) when it was alleged that its Australian base made Murdoch's ownership of Fox illegal. The FCC, however, ruled in Murdoch's favor, stating that his ownership of Fox was in the public's best interests."

yep - the public's best interest

9. Has FOX NEWS always been republicans?
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 09:52 PM by occe
I wasn't old enough to know what FOX NEWS was in 1996, has it always had a bias tip, or did that change as the years went on?

10. Faux News was right wingnut from the day it started
It started out immediately as a propaganda outlet for the RNC.

11. Yes. I agree.
I didn't realize it at the time but their daily hatefest for President Clinton caused me to switch to the other networks. They were pathetic.

12. I still remember the graphic they used in 2004..
.. when they declared GWB the victor. It was a set of cheesy graphic fireworks around his name.

I wonder what graphic they'll use when they have to declare our guy the winner. I also wonder how many times Hannity will vomit or cry live on the air. :)
