There are letters A-I, and it looked like this:

A
Democratic Barack Obama/Joe Biden

B
Republican John McCain/Sarah Palin

C
Independence John McCain/Sarah Palin

D
Conservative John McCain/Sarah Palin

E
Working Families Barack Obama/Joe Biden

F
Socialism & Liberation Gloria La Riva/Eugene Puryear

G
Green Cynthia McKinney/Rosa Clemente

H/I
Libertarian/Populist Bob Barr/Wayne A. Root Ralph Nader/Matt Gonzalez

Don't you think some people could be confused and fill out more than one oval? Why are the Dems. and Repubs. also under the name of other parties?

3. the names are under other parties because they
were endorsed by those parties not presenting candidates.

8. Jeez. In very small print it says to vote for only one in each column, but I'm SURE
there will be some people confused who will mark their ticket's name wherever they see it.

On the up side, the McCain/Palin names appear more than the Obama/Biden names. :)

7. Don't smell right to me.
You'll get a lot of choices, but they shouldn't be repeated like that. Take it to the election board for verification.

though, just to make sure.

13. Do call and ask if the ballot is correct, then do all of the votes for Obama/Biden
get added together no matter the party affiliation?

At least McCain/Palin is listed under 3 different parties, Obama/Biden is listed under only 2.

New York election law sucks if it allows that kind of ballot to be legit.

12. New York has a lot of independent parties. As long as you get so many
votes on your line this year, you get a line on the next ballot. Otherwise you have to collect petitions. In effect, the independent parties are lobbying groups that use their votes to gain influence (support our bill and we'll endorse your candidates) In rural areas, it's not uncommon to see someone running for County legislator of sheriff on three or four lines, Democratic, Republican, Conservative and Liberal!

So, there may be some chicanery involved here, but it's just normal New York State politics, not election fraud.

From Wiki - about Mayor John Lindsay: In 1965, Lindsay was elected Mayor of New York City as a Republican with the support of the Liberal Party of New York in a three-way race. He defeated Democratic mayoral candidate Abraham D. Beame, then City Comptroller, as well as National Review magazine founder William F. Buckley, Jr., who ran on the Conservative line.

18. Thanks for the info...
I did as the instructions told me and filled out only ONE oval per column (just one for P/VP, one for Congressman, etc.) :hi:

20. These are all legit parties that candidates court.
For many upstate NY, the WFP line provides a service for those who won't vote Dem. It's an issues party. The Conservative Party is a joke, and people pay for that endorsement.

With lever machines (we're the only in this country still using them), and with upcoming scanning (if we can still stop e-voting), we can't over vote (or vote more than once).
