OMG: I am getting Press Credentials at the Obama Rally in Dayton,Ohio Tomorrow that Im Attending!!!!

I am so excited, I probably wont be able to sleep tonight. Fifth-Third Field is a Baseball Stadium for the Dayton Dragons and in 2004 I attended a John Kerry rally there which drew 10,000 people. I bet Obama will double or even triple that number.

The Doors to the event open at 9am and the event starts at 11am. I plan to get there by 6am to ensure I get a good spot. I was also fortunate enough to recieve Press Credentials to the event for my journalism class. All I had to do was explain my situation to the communications director of the event and he said to go to the press box and ask for my passes with my photo ID.

Has anyone ever had any experience using a press pass at an event? This will be my first time and I am so excited because I am under the impression that my credentials will be just the same as MSNBC or CNN.

I will take lots of pictures and post them here....Yet can anyone explain the benefits of having a press pass at rallies like this one?

When I saw Kerry there in 2004 it was really the highlight of my life. I was 15 at the time and went with my dad, it was really one of those experiences you'll never forget. Now im 19 and im going with my Brother who I just recently turned on to politics and Obama.

Don't know if that will work, but I'll be a lot of them check their email from home. It's worth a shot anyway. Just try to put an eye-grabber in the subject line... "Student press pass tomorrow can you help?" some thing along those lines.

4. You won't have to wait on any lines and you'll go through a separate door than other folks.

Also, you'll be treated to a front row space with a clear line to Obama for your photos. Bring water. :)

Before I got the press credentials I was sooo worried that I might not even be able to get close to the action because theres no tickets its a first come first serve basis.

5. My husband is a videographer for a local NBC station. We went

to a Kerry/Edwards rally in Springfield, OH. The only difference is all of the press people are together and closer to the action. There wasn't any special interaction with the candidates, although I did get to shake their hands like a lot of the "regular" folk did. At least that's how it was 4 years ago. I'm still holding out for an event in Springfield with Obama. Hopefully that will happen. Have a wonderful time tomorrow. Can't wait to see the pictures!!!

11. Congrats! Parking is kind of a pain around there.

But you should breeze right in with a press pass.

I've had them and they confer privileges. Since I've never covered a national campaign, I don't know how many...At least expect a prime location with adequate viewing to both hear and photograph with a decent mid-range lens. Past that, the rest is gravy.

PS:I'd be tempted toward an old standby like Ilford monochromatic C-41 process film-But I could see a high speed transparency if you got up close...
