Psst - Obama Might Have Had A $100 Million Fundraising Month In September
But just like at the vice-presidential debate when we also learned that day that Team McCain was retreating from Michigan, the biggest news yesterday in the presidential race might have come before the debate even started. Interviewed on MSNBC, Obama strategist David Axelrod revealed that 4 million individuals have now donated to the Obama camp. That’s up from 2.5 million last month, meaning -- if our math is correct -- that 1.5 million new people gave money to Obama. So how big will Obama’s September fundraising haul be? It looks like it might be BIG. Will it top the 100-million mark? (1.5 million new donors at 100 a pop… Well, you get the math.) This all perhaps explains how Obama outspent McCain by a nearly 3-to-1 margin last week, per data from the Wisconsin Advertising Project. Writes the Washington Post’s Cillizza.

1. You'd see pundits calling that advantage a "game changer"
That's more money in a month than McCain can spend the entire GE.

2. Wow! That would be fantastic. I think that McCain is in financial distress
which is why he now has to be very thrifty with where he spends money. I think he'll probably not announce it but will surely pull advertising and staff soon out of MN, WI and NH and perhaps even PA.

4. I think this is why McCain and Palin are doing so many joint rallies.
They can't afford to do separate events (which can be pretty expensive). They need every dollar they can find to go to TV ads.
