IT IS OFFICIAL: JOHN MCCAIN IS A COWARD
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 11:37 AM by berni_mccoy
McCain did not have the courage to raise the Ayers / Wright b.s. he's had Palin pandering for the last 4-5 days. But he started up with it today on his stump speeches.

What that tells me is he is intentionally trying to incite hate and violence in his base and is too much of a coward to say it to Obama's face and give him a chance to defend himself.

Repeat: MCCAIN IS A COWARD.

1. Yes he is!

He's also rude, arrogant, condescending
and mean spirited.

28. Time for Obama to call him out
"Now Senator McCain and Governor Palin have been running around on the campaign trail making all sorts of outrageous statements about me. But you notice that he didn't mention any of that when we were together last night. Senator McCain, you had your chance. If you have something to say about me, at least show America you have the guts to say it to my face."

3. And he's in effect saying the people of Illinois are stupid.
Somehow they elected this horrible Obama to the state senate and then to the US Senate.

Obama and say that kind of BS that he has Palin spewing every day.

10. No. He's a flat-out coward who is using a pretty woman to do his
dirty work. He's too chicken to do it to Obama's face.

picked her. She slings mud with the best of the Rove proteges.

16. Right, for the course of 1.5 hours
he thought the better of it. Then he realized it was a good idea again.

That's one way to spin it. Spineless coward who doesn't have the guts to say "scary black man" to Obama's face might be a better interpretation.

24. I got it, he thought better of it for 90 minutes
and then it is back to slinging the shit.

Why do you think he "thought better of it" since you seem to have his back on this one? Perhaps for the same reason Hillary "thought better" of talking about Obama in that picture wearing muslim clothing on the general media because she would look like an idiot?

23. I think you're partially correct.
He obviously doesn't think better of it in general, or his campaign wouldn't be doing it in the first place. But I get a sense that he is deeply shamed by the turn his campaign has taken. In 2000, he lost the race but retained his campaign principles in a contest against a dirty Rovian campaign that he himself pledged not to mimic. This time, he has decided to prevent the same thing from happening in a contest against a more skilled candidate who has a serious advantage with the issues. This time, he feels like he is forced to abandon his ethics to win.

This is why he comes off as a coward more now than ever, because his shame is written all over his face.

25. It's his campaign.
He can correct the turn. Hell, he could have come on last night and started out with an apology to Obama and a declaration that it won't continue.

Didn't do that, though, did he? Nope he went back to slinging the same shit this morning.

9. I agree. All the pundits mentioned it last night and the meaning was
clear. Even those who tried to justify his cowardice were ineffective. They said that of course he couldn't bring Ayers up because the crowd was in the mood for a serious debate on the economy. But that point is patently false since McCain kept trying to make jokes in the middle of that very serious debate.

Plainly, McCain is a coward who is trying to hide behind the skirts of his running mate. He is hoping that since she's a woman, nobody will call her on it or fight back like they would if his running mate were male.

In short, that's the scuzziest thing McCain has done IMO. Okay, I'm sure there are other scuzzy things, but this one is pissing me off at the moment.

21. If McCain thinks Obama is such a scary terrorist,
why didn't he tell the American people on TV last night - when he had everyone's attention - that Obama was a dangerous man??? Doesn't he want what's best for America? How can he stand idly by and let us elect a terrorist? :sarcasm:
