1. NPR is in the Repukes pocket just like all other MSM.
At one time they were more "balanced" but not any more. And Cokie Roberts is as big a Repuke shill as you'll ever find on Fox.

2. to those few supporters of NPR who still think they are rational.
OK, no knock out punch, but how about reporting on the actual facts?

NPR has lost its glitter. BADLY.

5. did you listen to NPR this morning? They did a great job of summing it up.
They even had Axelrod on and gave him at least five minutes to offer his views.

3. It's absolutely true. The debate was nearly a carbon copy of the first.
McCain needed to blow Obama out of his shoes, and it did not happen. Obama merely needed to look Presidential and remain in strong control of the facts. He did that.

Is it your impression that one of the candidates delivered a knockout blow? Does anyone in the media have that impression?

4. that is not the issue.
the fact that they even couch it in terms of knockouts is a Freeper move, not honest reporting on the facts.

Shame on NPR.

8. Bullshit. Every analyst said prior to the debate that McCain needed a "game changer", a "knockout"
NPR simply reported that it didn't happen.

You people with your obsessions against NPR. I swear to god, if you're not being spoonfed GOP hatred by a given medium, then you decide that they are shills for the Republicans.

23. perhaps your local station differs from mine. but
the quality has fallen, the interviews of reich wingers have increased, and true detailed reporting seems MIA.

If yours has not changed, good for you. mine has. so take your bullshit and reinsert it in your bull.

6. an utter lack of journalistic integrity to hide behind these cliches: AS IF a boxing metaphor
was the only measure of a Presidential debate.

BY EVERY OTHER MEASURE, Obama won -- why can't they just say it!

7. NPR always says that.
They're terrified of being thought biased to the left.

9. What does a knockout punch in a debate look like?
I'd like an example or two from past elections.

15. I'm in
At one time, I was an avid NPR listener. Now I can barely tolerate them for 5 minutes. The second I hear Cokie Roberts or Mara Liaisson, I think I may as well be listening to Fox news.

13. Really? That knocked McCain out? Obama said it in the last debate...
Was it a knockout punch then, too?

18. But it was a smackdown after McCain's lame "Thank you, heh heh heh heh."
It was a visual knockout. McCain was grinning, then his smile disappeared and he stared at the floor.

19. the difference, imo, in this one Obama made Forrest Grump respond to it
and his lame attempt to gloss over the issue was what made it a knockout-

He said he was joking with "a friend", which could only be true if he packs his townhalls with his buddies.

20. Well, maybe there WASN'T a "knockout punch" So what?
But OBAMA wasn't the one who NEEDED it. He just needed to avoid doing any harm to himself or letting McCain get the better of him, which, thankfully didn't happen. Obama remained his cool and confident self and once again appeared Presidential. Consequently, he appeared to help himself by winning over some independents.

McCain: ??????????????????????? Well, at least he didn't drool over himself or have a much anticipated and hoped-for public "meltdown" but he doesn't really seem to be helping himself much politically either.

24. NPR -- Now Pushed to the Right -- not a big surprise
Actually it's been pushing more rightward every year for the past 7 years now.

It has been hard to listen to them.
