by Greg Palast
"In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color."

1. I agree
even if he wins despite the obvious problems, we cannot ignore them.

2. An Obama win, and bigger Dem majorities...
...give us a window for actually getting something done about vote suppression/theft. The DoJ needs to be all over this come February, with Congress ready to nationalize or ban the voting machines.

4. agreed
part of me - the optimistic part - hopes that the Dems are planning on doing something but have not made a big case of it yet to avoid both the Sore Loserman image, but also to not tip their hat.

I don't know but I am sick of it, and do not consider cheating by either side acceptable, nor do I consider it winning. I have noticed that suddenly the right is all up in arms about election fraud... er.. voter fraud.

6. This is my new cause. I'm dedicated to this
I donated 10 bux to Greg and downloaded his comic book about this. We really need to spread the word about this, I'm not kidding.

9. I think it's because people here know there's really nothing they can do about it.
I know it exists, but it's just too depressing to think about. I like to pretend I still live in a democracy.

10. Um.... WTF. This is one of the few things you actually **CAN** do something about?
Edited on Thu Oct-09-08 10:51 AM by Political Heretic
:wtf:

This is a place where you absolutely can take action! Every person can guarantee that their own vote is secure.

And you can certainly flood the campaign with calls about concerns over voter purging. In Colorado, all you natives should be calling campaign offices and making sure they know about what's going on and what their plans are to do something about it.

And then Greg Palast has a pretty good guide that I linked to about all the things you can do to protect your vote.
