Comments(some jaw-dropping) on Charlotte (NC) Observer Web site regarding who won tonight's debate:

Negative (and very scary):

*Whether or not there was a winner or not, in my mind, the winner is the one i trust. They can all talk but what amazes me is that irregardless of who can give the 'right answers', we are all in for tough years ahead! I would rather have a man that could truly lead our country and has already proven himself by laying his life down on the line than one that knows how to speak, may look like a president but doesn't fool me! It's called discernment...some people have it, some people don't!

*WOW WEBSTER REALLY DID GOOD TONIGHT BUT STILL NOT VOTING FOR THE ANTI-CHRIST

*There is more to it than debates. People can read the 'smooth talkers' vs. the ones they trust. Time will tell. When all the liberal media has moved aside, it may not be as much of a 'landslide' as you think. Blinded by his shallowness, and empty words? Not me

*If most people remember, John Kerry was widely regarded as having won all 3 debates with W back in 2004, so the "winner" may not be as important as some think. Obama continues to look more of the presidential part each time, but his issues lack so MUCH substance. His use of "But look" was driving me insane almost as much as McCain's use of "my friends"! McCain may not be as "charming" to look at or perhaps as elegant to listen to, but the man does show who he is. He's a crafty former POW/Navy pilot who has the credentials, bi-partisanship experience, and loyalty to freedom. He has a sort of grumpy nature in general and can come across as a tough S.O.B.
Some may believe that to be a character flaw, but to others it is a character trait. Maybe we need someone who isn't afraid of standing up to his own party, George Bush, and those trying to kill us? Any average voter can tell you the damage that Bush has caused to this race and to his party's candidates. It is shocking that Obama isn't ahead by 20 points at this point??? I thought McCain was much more aggressive tonight and I was a little disappointed that the format shunned much of the response from the candidates - just as it was getting entertaining. It would have been nice to see Obama respond to the fact that he served on 2 boards with the unrepentant terrorist Ayers and benefited from a fundraiser Ayers' hosted. Either way, the swing states will decide this one Nov. 4th and my bet is when voters get behind the voting curtain alone with their ballot and their God, the grumpy old man may just win in a squeaker?

Positive:

*That last comment about not voting for the anti-christ must have been left by Joe Six Pack, what an idiot. If that's the only thing you can come up with not to vote for Obama, that says more for Obama than any debate! Can't wait for the 4th, change is coming!!!!

*Obama was calm and collected. He demonstrated a grasp of the issues with real ideas while McCain wondered around the stage and acted like a grumpy old man. "GET OFF MY LAWN". OBAMA WINS!!!

*Obama one by a long shot. He didn't let McCain get away with his slander and lies.

*Wake up people. There may not be a Republican left in 30 days.

*Obama up 2-0 in the debates, therefore it's a sweep. This was McCains chance to get a win but Obama was just too superior even in McCains so called "Town Hall" style comfort zone. McCain cannot touch Obama in a debate. He might as well cancel the next one because it might not be in a "Town Hall" setting. McCain is a Joke and Palin an even bigger Joke.

*America is ready for something different and Obama is really the change that America needs. I fear for our country if the voters DO vote for the "old grumpy man" as one comment said. The grumpy guy was again condescending to Obama and the American people tonight. He's a joke and the republican ticket with McCain and Palin together is even worse.
