6. I was glad McLiar's lust for nukes was apparent. Just wish he'd said the number
he wants to build-- 45 nukes !! But I'm glad he sounded enthused about nukes and dismissive toward Obama's concerns about nuclear waste. That probably disturbed those in states with nuclear plants already, or those that have been bandied about as potential repositories for the deadly waste.

8. I'd love someone to ask McCain where he wants to put those power plants.
Because people would be really interested to know.

10. OK, one accident that won't repeat itself in the US. Do you understand probabilities?
You realize Obama is also for nuclear energy. So, any anti-nuke shit you sling at McCain splashes on him too.

Nuclear energy is safe. And I am an avid Obama supporter.

11. I understand probabilities just fine, Skippy.
And I'm well aware of Barack's position on nuclear energy. Now, how do you know for certain America is somehow immune to a Chernobyl-type disaster?

Chernobyl was a piece of shit designed with no common sense or safety regulations. US reactors have this crazy thing called a containment building that keeps the gasses during potential meltdowns from causing an explosive breach. Like TMI. Without a proper containment building that would have been much worse, something more along the lines of Chernobyl. But it wasn't. It was just a costly mess, and that's the worst that is likely to ever happen at a western plant. With understanding comes a lack of need of fear.

12. Chernobyl really isn't a good example.
The reactor design was very poor and reactors built now are of a far superior design.

The Chernobyl accident was also in part due to the staff shutting down safety mechanisms as part of an experiment.

And from what I understand, reactor designs now are even safer than the one used at Three Mile Island.

Coal, which is the other alternative, is a lot worse to the environment than nuclear.
