"You probably never heard of Fannie Mae"
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 09:53 PM by TACstrat
Anyone else catch this? McCain basically told a voter that the voter is so dumb he never heard of Fannie Mae before. Probably didn't help that the guy happened to be black. The guy (and Barack) both were smiling at McCain after the gaff.

1. McCain doesn't understand that Americans actually pay attention to the economy
instead of William Ayers.

14. Pueblo CO last Friday:
he said the same thing to the audience: "until a couple of weeks ago you hadn't even heard of Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac - you didn't even know what that meant."

My husband and I about feel off the couch! Maybe it's the other way around, maybe John McCain just learned what they meant a few weeks before that. His condescending manner toward people is to say the least outrageous and dangerous.

20. And then he described them as though they sold mortgages directly to the public, which isn't so.
They buy the mortgages off of so-called 'primary lenders' that lend to the public. Fannie and Freddie just provide liquidity to the market, so banks and mortgage companies can keep lending.
