Yesterday, McCain dragged America into Hell.
I've never seen anything this ugly in my 45 years on this planet. I'm so stunned that I almost can't believe this is happening. A good man is being slandered and dragged through the mud. McCain and Palin will not be satisfied until we have another atrocity like Emmet Till. I'm practically in tears right now for my country. Does anyone else sense the ugliness of this? I refuse to accept it and will fight this with everything I have. If I'm being a complete drama queen, I trust that the more rational DUer's will slap me down. This is why I love this place.

2. I don't know...
I'm pretty upset by this. It's disgusting to watch. Thank god Keith addressed this tonight. When I think of someone like Obama being smeared so unjustly, it makes me irrational.

3. I've had the same feeling for the last few days.
This has become so much worse than I ever expected. Their racial dogwhistles and veiled incitement to hatred and violence is just horrifying. And I never thought McCain would turn out to be as utterly unprincipled as he's proved himself to be. I've never liked him -- I wasn't one of those deluded Democrats who actually thought he should have been Kerry's running mate, and I didn't buy the "maverick" BS -- but he's now looking even worse than Bush, if that's possible. And Palin! My God, that woman isn't just an uninformed ditz; she's a vicious, racist sociopath.

I'm appalled. And more than anything, I'm appalled that these bottom-feeders are supported enthusiastically by so many people.

:puke:

If they are elected we are well and truly screwed.

4. I am right by your side. We as a nation need to talk about race right now.
Edited on Tue Oct-07-08 07:30 PM by tblue
When Kennedy talked openly about his Catholicism, he allayed the concerns of white Protestants, and he won the presidency.

I do believe we need to talk more openly about race and how it's being abused in this election. It is the elephant in the living room. No one is not aware of Barack Obama's race. No one. So let's talk about it. I think racist whites want to talk about it, and they should. Talking about it might even diffuse the tension. They need to feel they have been heard, that their concerns have been duly noted.

Barack has decided won't be the one to talk about race in this election. I think someone has to. I guess right now, that's us.

Dodger greats Jackie Robinson and Pee Wee Reese-----
when fans booed Robinson because he was a Negro, Reese put his arm around him
on the field and that aided in his acceptance. A bold move for both men.

8. I didn't used to be a person who would play the race card...
I'm white, but I see a lot of racism in what has happened in the past few days. McCain is sending signals out to the ugliest Americans, and they are answering. I'm so sick of racism. I also believe that President Obama will really help to confront racism head-on and make it look like the utterly riduculous shit that it is. Change comes with a price, and if exposing the true ugliness that is McCain, and the true vapidness and ignorance that is Palin is the price we have to pay, I guess I'm game.

5. Let's work for the backlash.
People are pretty sick of the shit. Obama's gains in red states attests to this. There will always be haters. If the McPalin camp wants to pander to the haters, they will pay the price. Just listen to KO. We didn't have anyone in the MSM like Keith Olbermann in 2004. Things might be very different today if we had.

I've noticed a trend in the media lately. KO breaks a story to the MSM and they follow about a day behind. This is remarkable. It wasn't long ago that the MSM wouldn't touch the things Olbermann brought up, now they are picking up on some of the stories brings to their attention. Not completely, but I see a tend in this generation.

6. I know just how you feel
No, you're not being a drama queen. THis is truly sad, shameful, criminal behavior from 2 people (and many many more) who are supposed to be fit to lead this nation. They are not fit to lead anything.

I am donating money to Obama everytime I get upset like this. and volunteering more.

If it is any consolation, this is a sign of desperation on their part. Think of it as the typical abuser scenario. Domestic abusers use scorn, mockery, and sarcasm backed up by physical abuse to MAINTAIN power and control. The most dangerous time for a woman is when she is leaving or has left this monster. He steps up his attempts at control and power, and sometimes kills her, because he is desperate.

They are desperate. Have you seen the electoral college map today? :-)

They will use everything they have, and expose themselves and their bitter, victim-hood-oriented angry mob followers as well.

But Obama will win. he will be OK. This is all part of the Change, albeit the ugly part of it.

Focus on protecting him and all of us, for that matter. Donate time/money/energy to the cause. Never lose sight of the goal. Don't get distracted by these attempts to get us off course. Old tactics....upsetting, and that is why they work. but they won't work this time.

this is the battle between the light and the shadow world. You can see who is who by the way they are acting and conducting themselves. This is everything that has been wrong in the past 8 years and more, simmering to a hot boil for the world to watch.

PEACE. We are on our way. The Majority of this great nation agrees with us and wants PEACE and goodness and reason in the WH.

Hang in there. It's going to be a bumpy ride. And hopefully you can talk me down when I find myself taking a dip into despair. You're not alone.
