McCain has decided to make personal attacks on Obama using baseless, guilt-by-association tactics to try to tear down Obama's campaign. He would love nothing more than to get the topic off the Economy.
And he has good reason for trying to do so: The Keating 5. McCain was part of the fraud that caused the collapse of the Savings and Loan and was a central figure in the Financial Crisis of the 80's. And here we are in 2008 in a situation so similar, many of us are having deja vu flash-backs, especially since McCain is a high-profile figure again.
It is more than coincidence that McCain is in prominent positions during both of these scandals... he was involved in both of these crisis for one reason and one reason only: political gain. His reckless treatment of regulation and willingness to hold smokey backroom deals with Wall Street players are at the heart of these issues. Just ask Rick Davis, McCain's Campaign Manager, why he was receiving more than $15,000 a month from Freddie Mac. He won't want to tell you that it was for "White House Access" for when McCain became President.
Bringing up Ayers and Rev. Wright are examples of failing campaigns death throes. Bringing up McCain's involvement in one of our nations greatest financial crisis and showing how that is relevant to today's financial crisis, well, that's just plain smart.
It's too bad the media has decided to call the Obama Campaign's revealing of the Keating Economics Documentary as a retaliation of personal attacks. It's too bad they don't see it for what it really is: McCain is the bug (Ayers, Rev. Wright) that has hit the WIndshield (Keating 5) and it's not quite realized what has happened yet.
