McCain: An angry man who might be dangerously unstable,
John McCain survived what no human being should ever be forced to endure -- five years of imprisonment/torture in a North Vietnamese prison. I pity and honor him for it. Very few of us would/could have survived it. There's no way that the psychological damage can't be permanent.

And that's my point. Do we really want a man who has lived through the mental attacks that this man has gone through making life and death decisions for all of us?

I have more than one acquaintance who suffers from ptsd -- not from torture and captivity -- but from their experiences in war. They are fully aware of how this has disabled them and they're terrified that McCain, given what he went through, might become president.

Many of you here on DU are vets and some of you are suffering with ptsd. I will not post my own personal military experiences here on DU, but let me ask you this. Do you really want John McCain sitting in the Oval Office holding the power of life and death over the people on planet Earth?

1. I agree he shouldn't have had to endure
five years of imprisonment/torture in a North Vietnamese prison. He should have died on impact.

That is all. And yes, I'm a bitch and will probably burn in hell but, I hate this man.

2. Sorry, madmax. I just can't agree with you
I don't wish that McCain had died. I just don't want to see him in a position of power whether as a congressman, senator, or, especially, president.

My fondest wish is that he'd just go away and leave the rest of us to not have to suffer with the demons this man carries in his head.

6. I expect posts lacking compassion like this one over at the other site.
Like Cyrano, the OP, I can have empathy for what John McCain, the man, had to endure while in the box. I dislike him through and through, I hate what he stands for, I have very little respect for him, but I do not wish him dead.

I certainly will work hard to assure that he is not elected to POTUS though.

5. I've been saying this since the beginning...
I also said shame on the GOP for putting him through the rigors of a presidential campaign... until I was reminded that he's asking for it... begging.

I have a cousin who did two tours in Viet Nam. He "hits the deck" whenever he hears a loud noise... to this very day. The human psyche isn't equipped... it just isn't.
