It's amazing that all her interview responses which reveal how utterly stupid she have not destroyed her career yet - but I guess that is the good thing about the Republican party, they worship the dumbest most incompetent leaders they can find.

In terms of a career ending gaffe like something racist I doubt it will happen because she never speaks to any independent sources and never answers any unrehearsed questions. The only things she publicly says are prepared remarks. They don't let her talk for this reason, either she will say something further to reveal how incredibly dumb she is or she will say something that just kills the entire campaign. She can't be trusted because of her stupidity. So unless the press ever grows some balls and demands that Palin be allowed to answer question or the media will completely ignore the McCain campaign, nothing will change. The media is already in the tank for McCain and that is why they are giving him and Palin the soft-glove treatment (with a few exceptions of course but mostly amongst editorialists, not journalists).
