Hold Palin accountable for inciting those with emotional problems to shout
out threatening remarks about our next president of the United States. The secret service had better take a look at this and someone (John McCain??) needs to shut her down on that over the top speech she keeps giving.

These two are responsible for inciting hate, which by the way seems to be at the top of their republican values list.

1. I agree. She is another big fat Rush Dumb-ball. They should be responsible for
their language especially if they are lying and inciting violence.

3. Wrote to Countdown about this.
I hope Keith mentions it. She absolutely should be called out for it.

4. FIRST AMENDMENT
Good lord, why do some DU'ers seem so willing to throw the First Amendment out the window every time some RW'er spews crap?

Inciting hatred does not violate the Consitution. I can stand up and talk till I'm blue about how I hate X, Y, and Z people and the government can't stop me (assuming I'm doing it peacefully). Now directly inciting violence is another matter. Palin has not done that.

So let's remember one simple truth. We ALL have the right to free speech. All of us. Every single one of us.

5. You must know that comments like that are taken very seriously
even agent Mike will look you up if you say that here. She needs to be called on the carpet and reamed for being a mindless classless person. Sheesh.

9. Listen carefully
Being a mindless person, or a classless person, does not violate the Constitution. She can say things that are stupid, ugly, hateful, mean-spirited, untrue, etc. But guess what -- all of those things are protected by the 1st amendment.

Yes, you can call her on it and demand equal time and shout her down. But you can't call for the government to arrest her or silence her.

14. Secret Service
You said the Secret Service needs to take a look into this. That is part of the government. And you said someone needs to shut her down.

15. Yes I did - they need to keep an eye on this
And I suggested someone (John McCain) say something to her. I would also appreciate if the media called her out and explained to her what she's doing. The "shut her down" was probably the part that i should have said less forcefully. I would however like her to stop.

6. your partially right...
however, Sarah did in fact endorse violence, when someone at her rally yelled "Kill Him" after her ravings, and she said nothing in response.

SHe knows exactly what she is doing. No candidate, should EVER accuse another candidate of palling around with terrorist, or being a terrorist period. It's not politics anymore, its downright playing a dangerous game with a U.S. Senator's life, who very well could be the next President of the United States.

She gets no pass on this, and cannot hide behind freedom of speech.

7. I am 100% right
It is not endorsing violence to remain silent when someone else -- whom you have no control over -- says something like that. It just isn't.

Her comments are stupid and ugly. But they are NOT unconstitutional.

23. The Constitution does NOT guarantee an absolute right to say anything at any time
The Supreme Court has ruled that certain speech is not protected.

25. Thanks, Mr. Scholar!I
Of course what you say is true. Certain speech is not protected, i.e., inciting violence.

But what relevance does that have to what I said?

8. You are absolutely right and
I'd rather win the war, not the battle. Let Sarah shoot her mouth off until it becomes clear that there is only room on that ticket for hate-filled racist scum and crazy people. The more she spews this crap, the more people will be taking those McCain signs out from their yards voluntarily as they find themselves embarrassed by their own political affiliations. Let them see where this Hate-Talk express is driving (really liking that new term).

Let the McCain camp head for the gutter, and see how many self-respecting folk want to follow.

16. Holding someone accountable
does not take away their 1st amendment rights. Nobody is saying she should shut up. We are saying she should know (in no uncertain terms) that she will be held accountable if it can be proven that her words causes someone to try the unthinkable.

24. Still that doesn't allow you to yell FIRE in a crowded movie theater
unless there's a chance that people will be injured by actual FLAMES..

Free Speech ends when the ROPES come out.

Prompting people to riot is literally against the Law.

10. I think she should be held accountable politically, not legally
She didn't violate any law and she's not legally responsible for how someone in her audience reacts. But that doesn't mean that she shouldn't be called out for not responding to the shouter or for saying things that are inflammatory.

17. There is no such thing as inciting hate
Everyone decides of their own free will what actions they will take. You can't force anyone to do anything with things you say.

Under the same logic we should ban violent video games because according to some they do the exact same thing.

And metal music incites suicide.

they can incite them. It's just more of the same disgusting tactics and she needs to be told that this is unacceptable.
