McCain has lost. He can't win like this.
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 11:44 AM by Kerry2008
Sarah Palin is claiming Obama "palls around with terrorists" and then raises the issue of Rev. Wright in an interview saying she doesn't know why he isn't brought up more often. McCain and his staff are desperately trying to peg Obama as "risky...dangerous"

It's not going to work.

The American people saw in the first debate that Obama was ready to be President, whether they support him or not, he proved that. So the risky argument will fail, just as it failed when Hillary Clinton tried to paint him as inexperienced and risky.

The Ayers bullshit will fail because the media has soured on the McCain campaign, especially after they recently lashed out at the media, and they'll fact check the shit out of it and prove it's false. CNN has already posted an item on their website calling it false.

None of this will work. Keep in mind they tried this once, before they picked Palin. They put him in ad's with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, saying he wasn't ready to lead. And McCain was failing horribly, and was behind in the polls. He only got the lead in the polls for the first time after picking Palin and the RNC, but that didn't last long--and Obama has commanded this race.

One McCain advisor is quoted in the New York Daily News as saying:

"It's a dangerous road, but we have no choice. If we keep talking about the economic crisis, we're going to lose."

They know it's a dangerous strategy, we know it. And it will backfire on McCain, and only worsen his campaign.

It's over. We won.

McCain has to win by winning at least one blue state red like Minnesota or Michigan, and he can't, so then he'd have to win every single toss up state. Every single one. And he won't.

Obama only has to win the Kerry states and pick up just one more state besides Nevada.

5. I briefly read it, and yes he's right--it could backfire.
Ed is wrong though that he can win by shifting back to the issues and redefining change.

McCain can't win on the issues, which is why he went negative.

And he can't win by going negative, because the American people are worried about the issues.

3. Another McCain Hail Mary. He Decides To Dive In Headfirst Into The Gutter
And junk any claim that he is going to run a campaign based on the issues. I will have to restrain myself from laughing when he starts calling himself a Maverick during the Tuesday debate.

6. It's not just that, IMO.
The McCain camp already beat on the Ayers drum and it got them nowhere. They already beat on the Wright drum and it did achieve a little bit of disarray but, ultimately, had zero net effect.

In other words, they got nothin'. They've already tried this swiftboat shit and it failed. Now they're just going to rehash it after it's already been torn apart months ago and this time Obama will be more than ready and will be completely unfazed by it.

But as we've seen, Obama has a bunch of weapons left he's never pulled out against McCain, starting with the Keating 5. So old John McSame might say he's taking off the gloves, but he took them off a while ago and still couldn't get anything done. Obama is taking off the gloves and unleashing a whole new arsenal into John's face.

Good-bye, McCain.

10. I've been wondering
What would I do if I were McCain?

Go negative?
Argue the issues?
Drop out?

I really don't think he has any options left.

What would you do?
