16. I like it - The story is complicated and the McCain people

have always mentioned it, minimized his role and used it as we he became a reformer. (The same prodigal son theme W used in 2000.) This is long enough to explain the story in detail, correctly showing his role. They then tie it to that expensive bailout and the fact that McCain did not draw the lesson that regulation does serve a purpose.

The story itself is complicated, but what is clear is that McCain was willing to pressure a government regulator into not doing his job. I actually wish the Senate had expelled all 5 of them - something they would never do. That McCain has this in his past and the media called him a reformer and a straight talker shows how much a pass he was given. Cranston's career for all real purposes ended, Glenn was dead as a potential Presidential candidate.

Look how the Republicans treated making fund raising calls from the VP's office for Gore - a minor violation of rules. Imagine what the press would have done to Kerry, who has equal claim of being a ware hero, had he been one of the Keating 5, instead of fighting corrupt banks at that time. (He would very likely have been a one term Senator, totally disgraced in MA)

they must have been working on this for a while, the production value on this thing is staggering. just a great and succinct overview that is immensely watchable. (i downloaded the .mov - i would recommend that, although it may create more impact to have millions of youtube views)
