John McCain owes this country a big, fat apology.
I`m going to move right on past the McCain/POW/hero thing since I have several hero friends with their names on The Wall but, unlike John McCain, without so much as a casual mention.

John McCain owes this country an apology, a big apology...an on-his-knees apology. Here we are with two wars, a critical economic meltdown, crumbling infrastructure, homeless children and veterans, melting icecaps, obscene national and personal debt, tens of thousands of foreclosed homes, unaffordable health care and what does McCain do? He picks an asinine cretin, a full-fledged half-wit as his running mate. It may take some hindsight before we fully comprehend the callous disregard for women and country imbedded in McCain`s VP choice.

At a time like this, I`m not big on flag pins and jingoisitc bullshit.I don`t get goosebumps watching Peggy Noonan swoon over Ronald Reagan and I don`t get choked up every time John Boehner cries. At a time like this, I want leadership. Steady, sure-footed leadership. What I don`t want is some flat-earth beauty pageant contestant with brainpower half the capacity of my neighbor`s gerbil.

All those days in the Women`s Movement taught me at least these two things...Sarah Palin has not earned her position on the national ticket and her winks and fluttering eyelashes have no place in a national crisis. John McCain should be ashamed of himself.
