. . .how the hell can she expect to waltz on the SNL yet still not hold a press conference or do a live interview?

Take that, Tina: Palin wants to spoof her spoofer

October 6, 2008
BY BILL ZWECKER Sun-Times Columnist

It's looking more and more likely that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will appear on ''Saturday Night Live'' -- to have some fun with Tina Fey.

As the comedian's impressions of the GOP vice presidential candidate draw laughs from Republicans and Democrats alike, a top honcho from the John McCain campaign tells me there's a debate going on about how to respond.

Some key McCain staffers are content with Palin joking about the "SNL" routines on the campaign trail -- as when she scribbled "I'm not Tina Fey" on a supporter's cell phone and said she'd dressed as Fey on Halloween. But others -- including the governor herself -- think a return punch on the NBC airwaves is what's needed.

I'm hearing some sort of Palin tweak of Fey's American Express commercials is in the works.

1. SNL should invite her on, go through rehearsals, then ambush
her with real, unscripted questions.

16. hmm ... a person who trained for weeks for half a 90 minute "improv" (and still didn't answer
the questions)

versus

a person who had less than a week at a time to prepare for a large chunk of 90 minutes EACH WEEK ...

Palin would be failin ...

then have Brian Williams come out and do a *real* interview with her.

7. Fey would eat her alive
Personally I'd love to see this. Palin takes herself way too seriously. She'd be ripped to pieces in seconds.

8. So is Palin going to be the writter of her own script on SNL. Just don't see how SNL could allow
that.

10. I wouldn't give that woman ONE FREE MINUTE of air time............she has
been pumped up with enough Republican BS to poison the entire cast and crew of SNL.........

I wouldn't give her the time of day, we would just be giving her validation.

11. There you go again, Sarah, using RReagan only when it suits you. The Fairness Doctine is gone,
thanks to people like Ronnie and you. So, why on earth should you get the benefit of it? But, it's about ratings, so you probably will.

Tina Fey in 2016!

14. Don't let her anywhere near SNL.
First (firstly? Is firstly a word?), it would be tons of free publicity.

Secondly, what's to stop the Mavericky Palin from breaking script and saying whatever the hell she wants?

Thirdly, even if she does keep script, Lorne Michaels is more interested in ratings than politics. Any bit they did would likely be mocking Obama.

Otherwise, no dice.

23. Wouldn't it be classified as a campaign ad, thus blacked out pretty much everywhere?
I didn't get to see the show that Al Sharpton hosted a few years back, since it was right before the NH primaries.

24. I wish so much that they would say "no thanks".
Why give her a platform on a show like that? It's just free air time, in a setting where she can wink and flirt as much as she wants in the name of "entertainment".

And there is no effing way I'd watch it.

for SNL? I'd write to them and advise against it.
