Even if they don't get printed, the editors count them when deciding how many pro-Obama vs Pro-McCain letters they print.

A couple of tonight's efforts--note that pet phrases are endlessly recyclable.

According to your article of a couple of months ago, “sometimes there’s news in the gutter.” You took up the National Enquirer’s story about John Edwards, so why haven’t you taken up their story about VP candidate Sarah Palin’s affair? Should McCain get elected, would we be only one more melanoma episode from a White House with two First Dudes? Inquiring minds want to know.

A local weekly rag had a letter last week praising Palin's femininity and motherhood.

The vice-presidential debate performance of Sarah Palin was a complete disgrace. If that’s “femininity,” it’s the femininity of a 12 year old at a slumber party, not that of a mature woman. With all the winking and googoo eyes it looked more like she was making an online dating video than engaging in serious discussion. It boggles the mind to imagine female heads of state like Golda Meir, Indira Ghandi, Margaret Thatcher or Angela Merkel behaving that way on a public stage.

Republican senators Kay Bailey Hutchison and Olympia Snowe haven’t winked and smirked during any of their interviews as far as I know. Palin is more like Bush the Second than either of those two eminently qualified women. Should McCain get elected, would we be only one more melanoma episode away from continuing the Bush tradition of cute nicknames (Pooty Poot = Vladimir Putin) and inappropriate shoulder massages for opposite sex heads of state (Angela Merkel)at summit meetings? Gosh darn it, I sure hope not. You betcha.
