Out-On-A-Limb Prediction: West Virginia Will Turn Blue For At Least One Moment Before The Election..

As someone with very few good things to say about WV (former Pittsburgher and all'at), I thought I'd mention this.

(a) It's turned pink at 538, with Obama current winning WV 28% of the time in simulation (read that as an approxiamte probability of winning any given trial).

(b) It's surrounded by blue - there IS a proximity effect.

(c) Obama just got a very nice endorsement by WV's biggest paper. http://wvgazette.com/Opinion/Editorials/200810050216

(d) Things will only get worse for McShittyCamnpaigner from here on out.


Even with all of that, of course, the people of WV are still the people of WV. So my prediction cannot be honestly described as anything other than a stretch. But no election is complete without such, so that's mine.

1. I live in WV and I'm skeptical. The race will be close, but I'd be

shocked if it went for Obama. A recent poll found that 51 percent (if I remember correctly) of West Virginians still believe Obama is a Muslim, despite evidence to the contrary. And most of those folks believe that Muslim = terrorist.

I'd LOVE to be proven wrong, however.
