(WILMINGTON, DEL.) - Joe Biden has cancelled his events for early this week after the passing of his mother in law.

"The Obama-Biden campaign today cancelled Sen. Biden's schedule Monday and Tuesday because of the passing of Jill Biden's mother, Bonny Jean Jacobs, this afternoon after a long illness," Biden spokesman David Wade wrote in an e-mail to the press.

4. I just saw the story - that is heart-breaking

I know Joe will get back on the campaign trail as soon as possible, but Jill Biden has been out their on her own campaigning. She'll probably be off of the trail for the rest of the campaign.

The whole Biden family is in my prayers. This has got to be tough on Beau Biden, he was just shipped out to Iraq on Friday (Although I think he heads to Texas for a few weeks first so hopefully he can come back for the funeral)

11. I'd like to comment,

as I've recently had a similar experience.

'Long illness' and the fact that she had been in the care of hospice for some time suggests to me that the family had time to come to terms with the situation, and the 'final' event is, in fact, more of a relief than a tragedy.

There's no reason to rush to communicate our sympathy, as the obituary, shortly, will likely contain information about the family's wishes for 'condolence' thoughts. We should admire Jill + for their apparent strength during the pendency, and thank hospice for the wonderful work they do.

12. I've lost both of my parents and whenever I got a card

it felt like I was getting hugs thru the mail.

I just want to let her know how much she is loved.

I still find myself tearing up missing him.

The pain of losing someone you really loved never seems to go away altho time makes it easier.

13. We recently went through this, I was one of two caretakers... I would think a donation to their

hospice in their name would be sufficient and not overwhelm them at this time.

My heart goes out to both of them and to the entire family.
