Looks like the Repukes will try to make Rashid Khalidi the next Rev. Wright ...
Hannity was slinging dirt on him and Ambinder is reporting that McCain will bring him up soon:

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/

From looking at his Wiki entry, it looks like the guy is a very mainstream scholar. He has taught at the Univ. of Chicago and is now the head of Middle Eastern studies at Columbia University. That will make it harder to trash Obama- how bad could the guy be if two of the best universities in the country employed him?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashid_Khalidi

He maintains that Palestinians have a right to use violence against Isreali soldiers but not civilians. As best I can tell, that makes him a moderate among Palestinian political thought- correct me if I'm wrong. His photo doesn't look very scary either:

So anyway, I expect this Swiftboating may take a couple points off of Obama's lead, but I can't see it being a game-changer with the economy as bad as it is.

1. All they have to do is repeat his name
and it's like red meat to "the base".

He could be a US 5 star general and all these assholes would hear is "Rashid Khalidi"

2. You really think it will take points off of Obama
Do you also think that now that Obama has given the green light to "out" McCain's Keating 5 scandal and some of his questionable ties will also take a few points off of McCain?

4. hmmmm
I wonder if any of Meghan McCain's friends (she went to Columbia, did she not?) took any of his classes. How could John McCain stand for sending his daughter to a school that trains lil terrorists?!

5. May I thank you
for not saying "As best as I can tell . . . ."?

Making a comparative out of a superlative that way just drives me crazy.

"Facts matter," said Joe Biden the other night.

"Using words correctly to make the meaning clear matters, too," said JaneAustin tonight.

:)
