Obama: McCain is Out of Touch, Out of Ideas and Running Out of Time. Asheville Rally(PICS)
Barack Obama held a rally in Asheville, NC today. The stadium was to capacity(about 10,000) with people up and down the entrance ramps, all around the fences and winding down through the parking lots.

I went at 10:30, and the most impressive part was all of the people. Amazing. The gates opened at 12, and Obama spoke at about 2:20.

He spent the majority of his speech promoting his healthcare plan and tearing McCain's apart as radically out of touch. He tied it well to the economic problems we face. I expect these ideas to be featured in the debates.

He hammered McCain hard for wanting to turn the page on the economy and focus the remaining 30 days on smearing Obama. He said, "This shows he is Out of Touch, Out of Ideas, and Running Out of Time!"

He said don't be hoodwinked, bamboozled or okey-doked by McCain.

The line to get in wrapped in and out of the parking lots:

A Geezer for Obama

I couldn't get many shots of Obama without a zoom lens, and he was right behind the teleprompter.

Tekisui and his honey

This guy was challenging people to Connect Four while waiting in line. If the kids had beat him, they would have won an Obama shirt!

5. Tekisui and his honey are cute as buttons!
And there was a count of 26,000 I heard.

Obama's words were powerful. Especially how he ended that speech.
Sounds like a good time!

9. Wow. 26,000!
I would believe that, I never saw the end of the line. I really had no way to judge. The local news said some people had to walk over a couple miles just to get to the line!

15. One out of three people showed up? Fantastic!
That's incredible turnout! I'm sure people from surrounding counties (and even farther away, as was the case in Greensboro on 9/27) showed up, too, but 26,000 in a town of fewer than 100,000 is amazing!

I honestly think that Obama might take NC.

24. 26,000??? That's like 123,000 to the McLame campaign
(Since the waaaaaaay over inflate the numbers of people at their rallies)

13. I was glad that Western NC has finally gotten some attention.
The East has most of the Dems in the state, but Asheville/Buncombe County is a Progressive pocket that can help a lot on election day. Asheville has been abuzz about it for the past three days.

16. I was wondering if you'd be there.. You guys are
perfect together..I love her shirt(I want one:)

I saw it live on cnnvideostream from here in New York and what a gorgeous day in Asheville, North Carolina..I used to live there back in '70's and I hear it's only gotten more progressive.

Your pics of the Rally today just bring it closer for those who enjoyed from afar..I could tell you all were having a great time. And, Obama wants to come to try out that golf course..one other thing we found out..Obama Sweats:bounce:

Was Heath Schuyler there?:)

19. If Shuler was there, I didn't see him,
and he didn't speak.

Obama made a surprise appearance at a local Dem fundraiser last night, and saw all the state Dems there.

It was a warm day-75 degrees, after what had been a cooling period.

Asheville has really grown, you probably wouldn't recognize it, come check it out sometime.
