If a girl winked at me like that at a bar, I'd be taken aback , and even scared that she might be cuckoo ....
I mean , come on , who does that ?

1. I wonder the same thing.
And seriously, is she going to be meeting with heads of state and be winking at them? :eyes:

4. In fairness to the handlers, that's not really the sort of thing you should have to tell someone....
Like farting.

5. She was hoodwinking
That was not a flirtatious wink, but a hoodwink. Perfectly right thing to do under the circumstances, I would say.

6. Palin is playing to the lowest common denominator
And, if Rich Lowry is any indication, it's working with some of the lunatic fringe. "Winkin, Blinkin, and Nod" is what some are looking for in a VP candidate. God help us.

7. She's winking with something other than her eye.....
I.m sorry for the crude analogy. I hate this woman so much.. I can't express it.

8. They're letting Sarah be Sarah.....
The Republicans are desperately trying to get back the kick Palin gave them at their Convention. Hiding her away didn't work, so now they are hoping that if they just let her be herself, she'll charm the pants off everybody.

What the Republicans don't take into account is: no one knew much about Palin's history during the Convention, and no one had seen her speak unscripted and un-monitored. Not to mention, she was preaching to the choir.

11. Not a chance. They probably loved it. Probably thought it was adorable and instinctive
and a superb reach-through-the-TV-screen-and-grab-the-viewers'-throats manipulative device. They probably loved it. Or maybe they were so distracted by her charm offensive that it just sailed over their heads - which would be proof of how effective it can be as a shrewd communication device. Strictly a device. Phony and calculating as hell. And because she's pretty and charming, she can carry it off. AND, with some, she can get away with it.
