Poll Reveals Voter Confusion Over Obama's, McCain's Healthcare Plans
Asked whose plan is better for them, 2 out of 5 say they don't know or don't see a difference
By Amanda Ruggeri
Posted October 3, 2008

Many recent election polls have shown Barack Obama leading John McCain on the issue of healthcare. But a survey released this week found that, when the question is rephrased, that gap narrows dramatically.

his is particularly true among two critical groups: independent voters and senior citizens. Since healthcare continues to be a top concern for voters, the findings could give the McCain campaign some comfort.

A Gallup poll in early September that asked which candidate could better handle the issue of healthcare found that Obama enjoyed a 12 percentage-point lead. But when voters were asked in a more recent poll which healthcare plan they thought would most benefit them personally, that lead slipped to 6 percentage points. Perhaps more important, 2 in 5 registered voters surveyed in the recent Harris Interactive and Harvard School of Public Health poll said they didn't know or didn't think there was much difference between the plans.

1. Which is why Obama is focusing on Healthcare..
We know that 50% of all bankrupcies in America are due to medical related bills. Fixing healthcare is a must if we want to help fix the mortgage mess... He needs to buckle down on this thing.

McCain's bill would leave more people without insurance, and anyone with a pre-existing condition.. forget about it.. your a dead duck... So in the next month he's going to double down on this healthcare thing and tie it directly to the bankrupcies facing American's and as a problem with the mortgage meltdown... It's full circle.. of course, I'm speaking to the choir.

4. I agree 100% I don't know why this isn't the most important issue

in this country. 800 billion dollar bill and no one talking health care. I lost mine at work and now find out I can't get coverage, due to a blood test 8 months ago which showed a slightly elevated hormone which they checked out and found nothing abnormal at that time. I'm 48 in excellent shape on no medication, can run up to 20 miles at a time, but I can't get coverage. I'm one hospital visit away from bankruptcy, that could happen at any time.

As far as i'm concerned until this is resolved we are not the greatest country on earth. If your born here, it should be a right of yours to have healthcare, and not to be denied coverage, because they want to insure only the healthy.

3. I'd like to think of myself as an informed voter and yet I could not give you details
of Obama's health care plan. I'm taking it on faith that it's got to be better than McLame's but I"m unable to provide details.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm gonna go check it out.
