I mean initially we have taken the candidacy seriously. She has been put forward for the 2nd highest office in the land. Most of us putting down a lot of her quirks down to being not all that bright but go back to her first controversial church outing it's just total babbling. Also as been stated she will change her personality to suit the weather. This is schizophrenia, they say it's an exchange of personalities to escape their true personality as the true person had some kind trauma in the past. I mean other things too like the demanding of wolves legs from hunters and irrational actions like that. Selling highly expensive government property on ebay, now Republicans aren't always Einsteins but this is less than rational behavior. So when we ask McCain for medical records on something we all know about, shouldn't we really be asking the mental health records of Sarah Palin.

1. Thats not schizophrenia
She seems to have delusions of grandeur, which sounds like schizophrenia, but she is not schizophrenic. You are describing multiple personality disorder, which she doesn't have either.

If anything, she is just a bimbo who is in over her head and too stupid to know it.

2. Antisocial Personality Disorder
Here are the diagnostic criteria. Three of the seven must be present to indicate APD

1. Failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest;
2. Deceitfulness, as indicated by repeatedly lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;
3. Impulsivity or failure to plan ahead;
4. Irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults;
5. Reckless disregard for safety of self or others;
6. Consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain consistent work behavior or honor financial obligations;
7. Lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.

Take what we publicly know about Sarah Palin, and I think you can ring the bell on at least three of these criteria. I think her medical records with regard ot psychiatric care would be very interesting.

11. People can do things we disagree with without being a sociopath
For starters, sociopaths have trouble with long-term relationships. She's apparently been good friends with a group of five women for years - some whom are liberal who don't even plan on voting for her because of her conservative viewpoints.

Whether or not she's had an affair as some have proposed - John Edwards had an affair, and I don't think he's a sociopath.

She seems to have a strong, consistent work ethic even if she's clueless about the work she does. :)

As far as lack of remorse - I haven't seen too many politicians own up to their mistakes.

Lies? Politicians lie all the time. Even on our side. That's why Obama is so refreshing to many voters. He appears to be telling the truth.

Anyway, she seems more narcissistic and histrionic than APD. I'm not saying she deserves a diagnosis of either of those, but she definitely leans in that direction.

Reckless disregard for the safety of others? I don't think we can call that one on the basis of the way she's treating her baby, although it doesn't look too good.

There's so many things we can say about her - LIKE SHE'S OBVIOUSLY UNINFORMED AND CLUELESS - without resorting to this.

4. She did not sell the plane on ebay. She lied about selling the plane on ebay, but that does not make
me feel any better.

13. She clearly choked during the interviews, and was anxious during the debate.
I think she is a very anxious person, which may have served her well in terms of being obsessed enough to do the things that one needs to do to become mayor and governor. However, anxious achieving people tend to rise much higher than their abilities would typically allow, and this can lead to disaster.

8. I think I'd go with narcissism or god complex
She obviously believes we are all wrong about her amazing VP prowess. Maybe she has secret death ray lipstick but I'd prefer high heels that can click together and send her home.

9. I'd gladly kick in for a pair of ruby slippers....
If they would send her back whence she came.

Go home, Sarah. Click your heels together 3 times, and think "there's no chow like moose chow, there's no chow like moose chow, there's no chow like moose chow."

12. She does seem to have many of the traits of the personality disorder spectrum.
Certainly, her history of broken friendships indicates borderline tendencies, and her inability to objectively know her own abilities indicates narcissism. I doubt that she meets full criteria for either diagnosis, but she may be considered to be on the mild end of the spectrum.

14. Histrionic Personality Disorder and Narcissistic P.D. ( 2 axes)
Go look 'em up on DSM IV

What I've been saying for a MONTH now is that

HER INABILITY TO SPEAK IN ANY DEPTH

is a critical feature of her personality. For Example, if you come into my office and we have a conversation while I try to find out what kind of person you are, and I ask you about, say your Mother, like this:

What was your mother like?

You answer: She was wonderful!

Me: Really, that's great...like how, what did she do ...etc.

You: she was just...special.

these people can't explain anythign...it's all generalities and worse.

this isn't the only thing, but it's important.
