More than 300K more voters registered in Va. (Surge in Richmond)

RICHMOND, Va. - State elections officials say 306,215 Virginians have registered to vote since the beginning of the year.

Board of Elections Secretary Nancy Rodrigues says that's a 7 percent increase in total voters. Nearly 4.9 million Virginians are now registered to vote as of Thursday.

The pattern of new registrations appears to favor Democrat Barack Obama, and the largest percentage increase was in heavily Democratic Richmond.

The deadline to register to vote is 5 p.m. Monday.

1. watch for Fairfax Virginia also

that's an area that use to be mostly Republicans. but Kerry won by over 50 percent (even Clinton lost there in his elections, i think LBJ was the last Dem to win there before 2004).

it's a more wealthy area i think. but i expect OBama to do very well there.
