Palin daughter, fiance consider summer wedding
Source: AP

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — The teenage pregnant daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her boyfriend are considering a summer wedding.

Bristol Palin, 17, and Levi Johnston, 18, haven't set a wedding date yet, his mother, Sherry Johnston, said Thursday.

The two have been considering getting married next summer, "but that could change," she said during a short interview outside her Wasilla home. The baby is due in late December.

the utter lack of maternal connection between Palin and Trig. Not that I see her have any emotional connection to any of her children -- maybe Piper, but that's it.

47. then he shouldn't have had sex with the daughter of a vindictive governor
He's just stupid if he doesn't want marriage or kids and then engages (no pun intended) in an action that is precisely designed to have exactly those consequences.

It's Bristol I feel sorry for. I really don't want to see her forced to marry some lout who doesn't want to be there. That would be so sad.

15. Can we stop picking on these kids?
With Sarah's narcissistic personality disorder, whiny, nasal intonation, and snide sarcasm, I thinks there is a decent chance her daughter got herself into this situation intentionally in order to get out of the house. I bet life with her mother is a nightmare.

I hope these kids are truly devoted to each other, and if so, I don't care when and where they get married. And if they are not, then I hope they don't get married, thinking that will make things right.

17. Devoted? There's no connection whatsoever.
Bristol and Levi sat shoulder-to-shoulder. But not once did they look at each other, speak to each other, or in any way acknowledge each other's physical
presence. Not once. For an entire hour. Instead, Bristol stared straight ahead and Levi had the glazed look of a trapped feral animal.

Then when Sarah wound up her autograph signing and the people sitting in front of him on the bleacher began climbing down, Levi stood up and, without
looking at or speaking to his betrothed, turned in the opposite direction and walked away.

36. I can't take any "astuteness" credit
as I first read about the possiblility of this in other threads here, along with excellent support of why she fits the definition so well. This is one of those threads:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x6973668

which includes this excellent post by Morning Dew:

Narcissitic personality disorder

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

has a grandiose sense of self-importance
is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love
believes that he or she is "special" and unique
requires excessive admiration
has a sense of entitlement
is interpersonally exploitative
lacks empathy
is often envious of others or believes others are envious of him or her
shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

16. According to the Enquirer, Palin tried to force the marriage
before the VP announcement was made. Bristol refused. Reports are that the mother-daughter relationship has a stormy history. The daughter was known as a rebellious party girl with numerous boyfriends. Friends say the boy is a drug user - oxycontin, cocaine, etc..

20. I hate to bring race into this but...
If Sarah Palin was black or latino, then she'd be called irresponsible, a welfare queen, or just about any other disparaging remark. However, she's the daughter of a republican, thus she deserves our sympathy and support.

25. How very Christian.......
A traditional white wedding, I assume, complete with veil and Daddy Tawd walking his little princess down the aisle to her betrothed, who will be waiting there with a gun stuck in his lower back?

Maybe if they wait a bit longer, their spawn could be IN the wedding, serving as, maybe, ringbearer?

45. That's uncalled for
And I say that on behalf of my "bastard" twins, whose father I married after their birth because I wanted my brother to be home from Iraq to attend my wedding (Got pregnant AFTER the engagement, as if it matters).

I'm sure I'm not the only DU member who got pregnant out of wedlock, and I'm probably not the only one offended by the "bastard" comment.

I still feel offended by that terminology. It's outdated and judgmental, and it labels an innocent child. That said, I had a moment of thin skin and lashed out. Now it's too late to edit, so I'm just going to apologize for the tone of my post.

  One for each of the twins and one for you

That particular cheap shot is almost irresistible under the political circumstances, but best refrained from anyway.

That said, I hope your wedding was as gorgeous as the one my SIL threw for her son, her pregnant daughter in law, and their toddler. Better late than never, and the bride wore white with a bouquet of scarlet roses, and all the bridesmaids wore scarlet as well. Everyone was there and love was in the air. My SIL has a heart as big as all outdoors, and is the most wonderful Mom, MIL, and Grandma I think I've ever known. May you be as blessed.

Somehow I don't think the Palin daughter and her boyfriend are going to be that lucky, nor is their baby. It's gone from "Okay they're not hiding anything" to "Jeez, could they just send all the kids on back home with a nanny so they can lead a semi-normal life away from the campaign?!" Every one of those kids is a prop, and I think that boy is going to run as far away as he can -- possibly even join the Army. :-(

unless I was looking at the wrong daughter (which is possible) she does NOT look 6 months pregnant. Was she the one who was holding the baby at the end of the debate? And I thought when her pregnancy was revealed she was already 6 months pregnant at the end of Aug.

37. I hope they think long and hard about it.
My husband was the result of a teenage pregnancy, his parents eventually married at 19 and 18. Needless to say it was a disaster and my husband's father ended up as a miserable alcoholic and his mother was afraid for her safety and that of her child. Sometimes the best option is not to get married. Very tough decision to make at 17 and 18 years old. I do wish Bristol the best. Its her mother I don't like, not her.
