Camouflaged Palin - The real honest to God danger that even Republicans should worry about.

A good Democratic friend and I have these round about arguments about Palin that remind me of Redford and Hoffman in "All the President's Men" where in one scene they are arguing one scenario and in the next scene each has adopted the other's argument and are arguing against the position they had in the previous scene.

"Is Sarah Palin really that stupid?". I have been saying yes she is. The debate last night put that argument aside, no she is not THAT stupid. It was one thing to read and give a well prepared speech at the convention, that really shouldn't have impressed folks as much as it apparently did. Last night was different, she didn't have a teleprompter and she spoke in complete sentences and made polemical points, occasionally these points were actually related to the questions that the moderator asked.

You have to agree however that it was a huge improvement from a person who couldn't name a newspaper that they read regularly, especially when they graduated from college (even if it was the University of Idaho) with a journalism degree. She does not have a high IQ but she is not THAT stupid.

Something else entirely is going on. She is changing into camouflage and sometimes gets caught in between costume changes and doesn't know what will fly.

McCain is the pseudo principled narcissist.

Senator McCain has now been completely revealed not as maverick politician who is too principled for the Republican Party, he has been shown to be the guy who can't stand to be overlooked, has to be the center of the attention. He didn't fight against the Republican Party because he cared about either the Party or the principles, he just didn't want to be lumped in with the rest of them.

Now he wants, more than anything he has ever wanted before, to become President and be the most different President in history. I am sure that he thinks that he can name a cabinet of national reconciliation and select Democrats, Independents and even a few College Presidents to sit and help him rule in the most not-like-anybody-else administration in history. Now we know why the Republicans hate him so much. He wants to appoint himself the head of everything without ever actually being good of anything. He wants to appoint himself the head of his class, after not being able to actually do it in the class room. He's kind of a Lou Dobbs type - watch me - I am better - every body else is a jerk. Its a weird pseudo-principled narcissist, not really a reformer but if that's what it takes for everyone to look at him he is happy to mouth the words.

Palin in camouflage.

The unsettling thing about Palin is not that she is not fit to be President. Of course even though she is not THAT stupid she isn't anywhere Presidential timber. The thing that should make any voter fearful is that we haven't been viewing Palin but Palin trying different personas and viewpoints on. When she is asked about abortion she gives a memorized answer that is obviously an attempt to bring her previous statements back into the mainstream. All of her other comments are obfuscation and diversion. It is cut and paste. What made the Couric interviews make her appear brain dead is that she couldn't figure out what costume to put on at that point and so she stalled in mid air like a hapless WWII bomber.

What does the real Sarah Palin believe? Who would President Palin appoint to be her key advisers? Does she really believe that the end of the world is something that has been foretold in Revelations and is now in a final countdown. Does she perceive Putin as being an extension of a final move by the anti-Christ? During the debate with Biden there was this odd little exchange:

GOV. PALIN: No, I do not believe that it has been. But I'm so encouraged to know that we both love Israel , and I think that is a good thing to get agree to, Senator Biden.(sic) I respect your position on that.

This is the naked Palin. Not Israel as a secular state who is an ally of the United States but Israel from the bible. Israel that was the receiver of a holy covenant that is part of the revelation of Yahweh in fulfillment of promises made long ago.

What does Palin really believe? She has camouflaged herself to get mainstream enough to get into the center of her state and now piggyback to the center of world power. Does she really believe that the writings of John of Patmos during Nero's terrible persecution of the Christians was a future predictor of the world's end? Does she believe that Israel will be a part of that and that those that love Israel will be called to use the force of thermo-nuclear warfare to usher in the second coming of Christ.

None of us knows what Sarah Palin 'believes' because she wears camouflage constantly in order to make her more appealing to the rest of the country.

Sarah Palin is not very intelligent but neither is she as stupid as the incoherent fruitcake caught on the Katie Couric interview. In the interview Katie simply caught her trying to figure out exactly what camouflage she should be wearing so that she would appear mainstream. How far out of the mainstream is she - you would need to be a camouflage expert to figure that out and that should be something that scares even Republicans.

2. It's a different kind of intelligence
not the kind of intelligence that is likely to be valued by progressive or liberal democrats. And it doesn't matter. Hers is a kind of social-political intelligence that allows her to navigate that landscape as easily as we would walk through a library or city park.

The "agreement" with Biden over civil unions was another good example, because it wasn't an agreement, it was a truce, for this election only, and it's difficult to imagine that her supporters didn't get that message while Biden's supporters are feeling betrayed. It was accomplished with ease ans suits her purposes for now.

Anyway, a monster, and not one who will leave quietly.

Thanks for the great post.

As much as this bailout irks and worries me, I have no problem with my continuing support of Obama and the dems. Palin and her ilk are dangerous. People laugh at her pastor who casts out witches. But if they knew the realities of what is happening in Africa, children beaten and abandoned, old folks burned to death in their houses, they would not find it as funny anymore. I am non-christian, I claim paganism but I am actually a part of a much smaller sub-set. Many of my friends are witches, buddhists, multitheists, jews, christian universalists and atheists. She has, by her associations, drawn a line in the sand. We are the people she will at the worst kill or at the least, neglect (can you say faith-based charity?) if she gets the dictatorial powers of an uber-Cheney. She did not lie there. Ol' Sarah ran her mouth off good, along with her 'slip' about McCain 'leaving' and the slip where she keeps putting herself on the top of the ticket. She is the Manchurian candidate of the religious right, their trojan horse. Filled with cultist superstition and nonsense, ready to assume power, so that as 'Esther' she can prepare the way for the return of Jesus, hallelujah.

Eyes on the prize folks, this woman must be beaten back to Alaska and revealed to be the lizard that she is. Our lives and future depend on it. A depression sucks, sure. But we've survived those. We're looking at a fucking inquisition here.

4. Well, Come Nov 5th There's going to be a major correction
Palin Mini-Theater: "Nov 5th, Sarah discovers she's no longer on McCain's speed dial, or his lawyers."

THE SCENE: A giant plastic Faux-wood cabin in Alaska. INTERIOR: Dead Shit EVERYWHERE. Various Animals Heads on walls, Taxidermied still Rotting fish drop scales, partially denuded Moose head with one antler hangs crooked on the wall, with what appears to be scabies, dandruff flakes falling like snow -Everything is covered in Fur or skin, counters, tables, spoons, salad, Everything.

Sarah enters stage left from Kitchen, holding Phone. She's realized that McCain, no EVERYONE in Washington DC refuses to return her calls. The State of Alaska is moving in with Troopergate, it's all turned into a shit sandwich.

SARAH: "Wah! What do I do NOW Todd?!!"

TODD: "Uh, go fishin' I guess?"

WHACK!!

TODD: "OWW! You BITCH! Those American People were right in not electing you! That's IT, I'm Seceeding from this marriage, you can get yourself another Hunk!"

SARAH: "Like YOU'RE the Only Hunk in town..Well, I'm just gonna head on over to the Snowmobile shop, YOU remember who still runs that place don't you?"

TODD: "Yeah, but he died of syphillis while you were on the campaign trail.."

SARAH: "No shit. But.. but..Goddamn it, if you're going to leave, then Leave! And take this baby WITH YOU! I'm sick of dragging the little shit around..."

TODD: "Fuck! Okay, even though I KNOW it ain't MINE, I'm still the Dad around here.. throw me the kid, Ice Queen.. I'm SO outta here.."

Reaches for door.

Suddenly the half open door bursts completely open, and the room is filled with three legged wolves, snarling, and snapping..

And the rest is History

This has been another episode of "Palin Mini-Theater", the Reality Show for Joe Sixpacks everywhere. Next Week: "Sarah finds her 8th baby 'Puck' in the city dumpster, and claims it's her Daughter's baby to avoid Jail Time.."

7. lol now something that Alaskans are going to have to really think about
is that they are going to be out of power and out of sympathy

When Alaska shows up for its multi billion help on infrastructure the Congress is going to say thanks but no thanks and they are going to have to use their own petro dollars to build their own highways - that the Palin disaster is going to cost them billions.

10. I have to disagree with you.....
it was obviously to me (and many others) that she had memorized a "set" of dialogs. That is why she couldnt/wouldnt answer certain questions.....they hadnt prepared a script for that particular question. Watch it again....sometimes the brain had to scan for the correct "set" of talking points.

12. well so far we don't disagree

my point is why is she having to memorize a "set" of dialogs?

Not because she is an idiot without a point of view but because she has far out religious beliefs that she is trying to hide.

Of course that point of view does in fact make her an idiot just a different kind of idiot.

because her mind was racing to the next question...maybe she's clairvoyant?

check with anybody about anything because nobody is going to listen to your explanations seriously lol.

19. Her non-answer on global warming in the debate seemed to fit into your "costume" catagory
She does not believe that human actions cause global climate change. The McCain campaign has warned her against saying that--it might alienate some swing voters. As a result, despite her supposed knowledge of energy issues, she smiled and winked through a a series of disjointed phrases that essentially said nothing of any substance.

Sarah Palin is a wingnut. She was chosen to excite the wingnut base of the Republican Party and has done so beyond their wildest expecations. I saw a huge banner yesterday with SARAH on it in huge white letters and below it, much smaller and buried in the weeds, McCain/Palin in light blue. This was on the corner of a property owned by a Bible Study Group. I suppose that it may have been on the neighboring vacant lot just in case any curious agents of the IRS came snooping around.

I wonder if her winking is her secret signal to her supporters "Don't worry, they're just making me say this, you know where WE really stand".

Whatever the case Straight Talk Johnny'd better hire himself a food taster if he somehow manages to become president.

20. Sarah Palin is a sociopath...
If you look at the APA definition of Antisocial Personality Disorder, you'll find that what we know publicly of Sarah Palin's behavior fits most of the diagnostic criteria. What we DON'T know about her behavior (violent temper, alcohol abuse) would pretty much confirm it.
