I know that the fundies have the "rebuilding of the temple" (whatever the fuck that is) as part of their rapture nonsense...
was this some type of reference? There was a notable change in her inflection when she delivered that line.

thanks,
mitchum

1. I thought it was an attempt to woo the Florida vote.
And the fundie loons -- but they're supporting her anyway.

2. It seemed completely out of the blue when she mentioned it, with no reference or explanation (as
is her usual style).

3. I'm pretty sure.
There were lots of fundie dog whistles in that speech last night. My parents LOVE her. It's disgusting.

5. here's what the fundies would like to see

The mosque on the Temple Mount is actually built on the site of the ancient Jewish temple. A few years ago, there was a long article in Biblical Archaeological Review pointing out where in there the Holy of Holies was. The rock under the dome there is also said to be the point from which Mohammed ascended into heaven. When the Crusaders took over the city during the Crusades, they actually did some damage to the rock there, starting to cut steps into it. The Moslems have taken much better care of it than the Christians did.

What the fundies imagine is that at some point before the return of Jesus, the mosque would be blown up, and the temple rebuilt. This would also start a major war, that would lead into the End Times and the return of Jesus.

I know, it's a lunatic idea. But fundies talk like this.

6. Yes It Was
although Obama said something similar before being appraised of the implications.
