The real problem with Biden's marriage equality answer
It isn't the position he took it is the fact he didn't bring the answer back to where the Democrats are much different than the GOP. There is no way on earth Palin should have been able to leave the impression that there is little difference between the McCain Palin ticket and the Obama Biden one on gay rights. Every single time the issue of marriage equality is brought up the Democrat should pivot back to ENDA, hate crimes, and DADT. Not only does this differentiate the parties it brings back the discussion to issues which unite us and divide the GOP. Marriage equality divides us and unites the GOP. Both African Americans and Catholics have problems with it. ENDA, hate crimes, and DADT unite us and on issues with over 70% support each. We should always bring these issues back. Obama will be asked this question, he needs to give this answer. Yes, I favor civil unions but oppose gay marriage. But neither will be worth much to people if they can be fired for simply being gay as the GOP favors. It won't matter to them if they get killed in hate crimes with no recourse as the GOP favors. It won't matter if they are a gay soldier who gets discharged simply for being gay as McCain favors. That is the answer.

2. Plain was off script last night. I think everyone knows
how different the two parties are when it comes to gay rights. Joe's comment to sarah after the exchange was for the purpose of putting her at odds with the GOP party.

3. They sold us down the river last night and will do so in the next debates.
We'll hear the same goddamned thing from Obama when this question comes up..and it will...in the next debates. "Marriage is solely between a man and a woman". Right from Obama. And in complete agreement with McCain. I can see them nodding in agreement...just like last night.

Meanwhile, we gay and lesbian DU'ers will be told to "shut the fuck up" because, ultimately, our anger just doesn't matter around here. We've got caught in the "hope and change" thing, and have donated our money, and our time, are just as passionate in our support of Obama/Biden as the heterosexual DU'ers here. But when we hear "Marriage is solely between a man and a woman", because, well, that's that...we're just supposed to take it and be perfectly fine with it because it "just has to be done".

4. I think that Biden's and Palin's answers were very different
Biden made a great big point about equal rights. He was absolutely adament on the position. Palin kind of reluctantly agreed with that issue and then gave a big speech about the sanctity of marriage.
