Obama pulls an "American President" - buys flowers for Michelle

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/10/obamas-annivers.html

Obama's Anniversary Gift to Michelle

John Berman, Sunlen Miller, Ursula Fahy and David Chalian report: Barack Obama didn't exactly move heaven and earth to impress his wife, but he did stop traffic.

In the town of Glenside, PA Obama's motorcade made an unannounced stop at Penny's Flowers so the Senator could buy Michelle Obama flowers for their 16th wedding anniversary.

"I wish I could just slip in and get some flowers for my wife," he said.

He wondered for just a moment for about what he should buy: "I'm thinking not red...maybe yellow?"

He settled on a bouqet of a dozen white roses surrounded in babies breath. Total price, $47.70.

The scene was somewhat reminiscent of a scene from, "The American President," a film directed by Democratic activist (though Hillary Clinton supporter) Rob Reiner. In it, the American president Andrew Shepherd (played by Michael Douglass) tries to buy flowers for his new girlfriend, Sidney Allen Wade (Annette Benning). Remember? "The dogwood is both a tree and a flower. I'd like a dozen, please. Really? No dogwoods?" He says.

2. He also stopped in that area to say hello to some elementary school kids...
...who had lined up at their school along the route.

3. In the film, the florist faints when she sees the Pres. I wonder if
the florist fainted when Obama walked in! I sure would.
