I think Frank Luntz "cooked" last night's focus group....
Edited on Fri Oct-03-08 11:57 AM by npincus
Compare these post-debate 2 Frank Luntz Focus groups. I beleive that Luntz must have been KILLED by the folks on the Dark Side after the overwhelming positive response for Obama among the first group; I am betting he buckled to threats from conservatives to "stack the deck" for Palin in the second go-round. Palin WON the second group not by a few, but by an OVERWHELMING margin... there is something fishy there.

Just LISTEN to some of the responses to Luntz re: Palin... they sound as spontaneous as those of the troops to B*sh in his infamous live chat with American soldiers in Iraq.

1. This group is republican
Like the woman that kept saying the Couric Palin interviews were edited. She repeated it several times

2. Who cares about Frank Lutz and his FAUX focus group, both CBS and CNN polls give Biden the debate.

5. It is interesting... Luntz does consulting for other networks
and the first debate focus group was credible, as well as reponding overwhelmingly in favor of Obama. The fact he cooked the next focus group means he flushed his credibility ooutside of FUX-world down the toilet.

4. I agree. And the RNC cooked the low expectations.
Sitcom Sarah did the same Republican Lie Plug-in game during the Alaskan gubernatorial debates that CSpan replayed after her nomination.

So I knew she could do that Repulbican thing of plugging in vague replies to certain categories of questions and rambling on to fill out the time slots.

Others expected her to flub as with Katie and jumped right in to trash her and lower the expectations. So they helped the RNC get the public ready for Sitcom Sarah to shine.

Then the RNC also Played the Ref by trying to intimidate Gwen Ifill, even after they'd already greatly restricted her with their odd so-called debate formatting.

6. He's got a bad track record
and has been known already to cook stuff up. Look at this from his wiki:

"n 1997, he was reprimanded by the American Association for Public Opinion Research for refusing to release poll data to support his claimed results "because of client confidentiality". Diane Colasanto, who was president of the AAPOR when it reprimanded Luntz, said, "It is simply wanting to know, How many people did you question? What were the questions? We understand the need for confidentiality, but once a pollster makes results public, the information needs to be public. People need to be able to evaluate whether it was sound research."<10> In 2000 he was censured by the National Council on Public Polls "for allegedly mischaracterizing on MSNBC the results of focus groups he conducted during the <2000> Republican Convention." In September 2004, MSNBC dropped Luntz from its planned coverage of that year's presidential debate, following a letter from Media Matters that outlined Luntz's GOP ties and questionable polling methodology.<11><12> In a video piece, entertainers and libertarians Penn & Teller lambasted Luntz for his comment that the key to survey polling is "to ask a question in the way that you get the right answer".<13>"

7. He had a bunch of plants this time, and they obviously had assigned lines
He'd call on someone quickly, and they'd deliver a quick, to the point, line, then quickly to another. The rapid fire nature was a tell. They were plants, giving the line they'd been told to use. If you watch how REAL focus groups do, the people always talk a lot more, meander around, and don't make direct points well. But Frank's group KNEW their lines going in.

It was a complete and utter FIX.
