Palin turned the debate into a speech, which is how she held her own
It was really weird watching her debate to me, because it just didn't seem to matter what the moderator or biden stated. She was determined to talk about what was on her speech, at one point commenting "And I may not answer the questions that either the moderator or you want to hear, but I'm going to talk straight to the American people and let them know my track record also."

The thing is Sarah Palin gives good speeches but cannot hold her own when asked questions (Check interview with Katie Couric) so she took a debate and just turned into a speech.

She dismissed the questions or chances to reply to Biden to keep going on with her speech.

Again, I am sure a lot of don't think she held her own but she didn't seem as inept as she did in the Couric interviews and i think her success was largely because she turned a debate into a speech

Clever but very dishonest.

1. I noticed that, too. It drove me nuts.
It was, "The hell with the questions, I'm just going to say whatever I want." That's exactly how she projected the aura of being up to the task. She redefined it to suit her narrow capability - making a pre-written speech.

5. I agree.
It was like watching her filibuster her way out of answering a question the whole time. It was kind of interesting to watch as a strategy , but I think that it ultimately came off as transparent and evasive...she seemed dismissive of really important questions.

7. she had a list of announcements to get out
cute cliche-like announcements.. she had to blurt them all out at some point during the 90 minutes, whether they answered any questions or not :eyes:

Anyone who thinks she passed IS JUST AN IDIOT.

8. Tweety likened it to a spelling bee. She was the contestant, she studied and memorized, and when
she got the "answer" right, she looked right pleased with herself.

9. I believe she was coached by "if the question contains a certain
word then use response #1, another word then use response #10, but don't use response #1 too many times, then go to response #5." She had all of this stuff memorized, just had to pull up the semi-correct response, whether it fit the actual question or not.
