Why is always the REPUKE (Sarah, Dubya, Quayle) Doing The "Low Expectations" thing
Why do we even WANT somebody in that job who we expect to not be able to think and express themselves well?

Why is there even anybody RUNNING to "did what they had to do" because they are still standing upright at the end and thus "exceeded expectations."

I guess what I'm trying to say is, if the GOP is the admitted "stupid party" why does anybody want them in such powerful positions in the first place?

1. You got it. The repukes always try to put in leaders they can manipulate from behind the scenes.
Never mind the men behind the curtain!

3. Because we have no idea who the real leaders of the repubs are
They stay behind the scenes and put out their spokesperson. That way, there's no 2-term limit to their power.

I bet Poppy Bush was one for a long time. Poppy beginning his term from around 1968 during the Nixon years, until around 2005 when he started literally falling apart at the seams cause of his boy child prez.

4. Because the real
powers in the Republican party want a puppet - not a president - someone who can follow orders without question. Someone with brains and a mind of his/her own would never do. Nothing else makes any sense. The last Republican with a brain was Richard Nixon.

5. isn't there a point where expectations are so low that it should
disqualify them from running or at least not being seen as a serious candidate ?

this was the case with the ones you mention, Quayle, Bush and Palin.

6. Remember when Nixon tried to nominate Carswell to the Supreme Court?
Carswell's record was "mediocre" at best, and Republican Senator Roman Hruska
of Nebraska sprang to Carswell's defense saying that there were a LOT of mediocre
people in America and that they deserved some representation on the Supreme Court.

With people like that getting elected to the United States Senate, no wonder there
are low expectations of them. Things haven't changed much.
