They have bought the Willie Loman myth: i.e., that a person with sufficient will can simply declare the world to be what they want it to be. in a way that will help the Repub ticket down-ballot in red states. She will not help McCain win, but she'll help prevent Repub state house losses in the South and Mountain Time Zone red states so they won't lose the power to gerrymander those states for another decade.

In the debates you usually have to win over the undecideds. Though she was losing support with the base too. But someone mentioned that the fact she has to worry about shoring up her base at this late date means she's in trouble.
