Palin Won the Theater, Biden Won the Debate - Which is More Important?

Unquestionably, Sen. Biden won the debate, he was concise, accurate, articulate and logical. Sadly, Palin won the theater, and most of these presidential/vice-presidential "debates" are nothing more than theater. There is no independent fact checking, no calling the candidates on misrepresentations or lies, and no bounds placed on what is often nothing more than propaganda.

Let's hope that the majority of the electorate prefers debate to theater. Hopefully, even if they don't, tonight's performance should be little more than a sideshow in the election process.

Sen. Biden did an excellent job as a debater. Palin's performance(as a performer) was mediocre, but adequate for what it needed to do(not embarrass the McCain/Palin ticket).

1. How do you figure she won the theater?
Biden started slow, but her playacting was transparent. Biden finished strong.

3. Palin did not win any theater.
People obviously saw through her act, per the post debate polls.

Joe won every aspect of this debate.

8. It might have worked in another election, but not this year.
People throughout the country are fed up and looking for change. They don't want folksy bullshit, they want answers.

20. you'd be surprised
you are assuming too much. I would agree that a much larger proportion of the country, this time around, after two stolen elections,is sick of and saw through the bullshit AND the theatre, but there are still people out there who are fooled.

9. Why? Why did she win theater? She was smarmy, snide, smug, and arrogant.
Her so-called folksy way of speaking was grating. She fairly dripped with condescension.

15. She won the theater for all the reasons you listed
smarmy, snide, smug, and arrogant and, don't forget, that wonderful, folksy, "authentic" smile of hers ;)

12. Good news. Bad news.
Palin won the debate in the sense that she needed to get the Republican base back in line. The good news is that she achieved that. The base is no longer nervous, but there's something to be sad about trying to "win back your base" with only 30 days left in the campaign. The bad news for her and McCoward is that Biden solidified the Democrats AND brought along some Undecideds and Independents as well.

It's a win for Palin but a greater win for Biden!!

18. I don't even think she won the Theater
Uncle Joe yanked it from her when he both candidly expressed his sorrow at losing his first wife and when he simply talked sense to the American people.

21. I don't even grasp where such a point of view comes from.
Did she even in the most remote way demonstrate readiness to be President?

That's a loss.

This skank had nothing to say, it was straight talking points and phony folk lore.

That's a FAIL.

I think she had better stage presence, but he was much better on substance.
