Biden Really Won Me Over...
I always kinda liked Biden, but after tonight, I'm a total fan. I trust him. He was honest, civil, and even when there were moments he could have clearly ripped her throat out, he was the consummate gentleman...

I don't understand why no one, particularly the moderator(s), didn't call to Palin to actually answer the questions...

THAT is uncalled for.

In the end, Palin is a puppet, Biden can think on his feet.

So, do you like marketing glitz and party-approved statements, or do you like real people who can actually answer a question.

1. Biden did mention once that Palin had failed to answer a question
and she decided which ones she was and wasn't going to answer.

2. A belated welcome to DU!
:hi: It was the strangest debate I ever saw. Maybe Gwen Ifill was hopped up on pain meds, but she really should have directed Palin to answer the question (or maybe Gwen was just going to let Palin hang herself).

3. Biden did an excellent job
For all the reasons you mentioned.

The thing that struck me most was his choke-up moment. Totally caught me off guard. If you were watching on CNN with the little Men vs. Women live graph, both the men and women spiked all the way to the top on that one.

5. I confess, I thought that was brilliant
Perfectly timed, just ambiguous enough to not be too overt, absolutely flawless execution. I didn't think Biden had such subtlety in him. As cynical as I am, I had a hard time not wondering whether it wasn't perhaps genuine and not a planned and scripted play. I'm still not sure, but it matters little to me: either it was genuine and moving, or it was calculated, but executed so adeptly as to be impossible to tell - either way, it was absolutely brilliant.

7. I knew very little about Biden before tonight.. I friggin LOVE him..
He totally won me over. He's a true gentleman.. one of the smartest mother-fuckers in Washington by FAR.. and so passionate it's unreal.

Biden won, because even though Palin didn't tank as much as we were all hoping... he went so far ABOVE expectations and showed how amazing that he is.. that no one could wonder if they'd want him in the white house. He knows what he's doing.. she doesn't. That was still apparant even if she dind't trip over her own brain again tonight.

10. Yep, he is warm, informed and inspiring
Next to Palin, he makes her look like a grade-schooler.
