Does anyone remember what Palin said about civil unions?
She said she was opposed to gay marriage. Did she imply that she believed in civil rights regarding contractual relationships, hospital visitations, and the like? Did she say what I thought she said? Biden's response seemed to imply surprise at her statements. If she said these things (I didn't quite follow her and don't clearly remember) is it something new on the part of the McCain campaign? Will her Fundie base react negatively to this?

4. It's funny that no one was talking about gay marriage until she brought it up.

6. If I remember, she said extending benefits will put us on that slippery slope
to gay marriage and will undermine what marriage should be (in her words, NOT mine, lol), a relationship between one man and one woman.

Other than that, she didn't answer.

7. I thought she agreed to civil contracts, hospital visits, and all
civil contracts; she did say that marriage was between a man and a woman but I was surprised that she agreed with Joe about the civil rights otherwise.

8. She didn't say anything about civil unions
She said that she agreed that same-sex couples should have hospital visitation rights, joint contract and ownership rights and some other things like that, but that she was against redefining marriage away from one-man one-woman. But the term "civil unions" was never mentioned.

9. but neither of them did the right thing....for whatever strategic reasons...
I mean, just imagine Joe saying to the camera: "Folks, really...what the hell difference does it make if gay people get married? What the hell is it going to cost you? What the hell do you care?"

I know, it's unrealistic. But what PRIDE I would have felt for Joe Biden if he could have just up and said that.

That was the only point of the debate where I felt they were both wrong.

SURE Palin's way worse. I can't stand this bimbo. But it's really too bad that Joe has to mouth this horse shit as well.

Don't flame me!! I'm just thinking out loud.
