I couldn't believe I logged on to more than one thread proclaiming this. The only thing I can figure is they were expecting a Couric interview, and that just wasn't going to happen. But, it wasn't even close to a tie. That is ludicrous.

31. The problem with partisanship...

is that it causes you to see things as conforming to your preconceptions. Imagine for a moment that you're not a political and information junkie. That you follow politics desultorily. You only know what you see on the evening news. You've seen some of Palin's Couric interview, but that's it. You've seen some of Biden, but not a lot. How would you say the candidates fared then? It doesn't matter who partisans think won the debate. What matters is how remaining undecided voters whose opinions might be swayed perceived it.

Given that Palin has been looking like a world-class moron in most of what's been seen of her so far, even a stellar performance might not have done much to overcome the already-defined image, but if she's made any undecideds change their minds about her credibility as a VP candidate, then she's done well, as unpleasant as that may be to admit.

32. I found her to be absolutely insulting to the American people

the folksy/ cutesy act was completely inappropriate in this venue. This isn't a game; she would potentially be the President of the most powerful (or once powerful) nation on earth, but she's acting like she's in a local spokes model contest. It was just painful to watch-and even more painful to listen to. She has NO respect for the office. I don't think that she cares at all about America (outside of her own state), and she obviously despises our system of government, so she's just in it to expand her own ego.
