It was a good debate. I watched on MSNBC, though, and the post debate televising was skewed.

Skewed to highlight the adorableness of Palin and her family, and as much as possible to capture the backs of the Biden family's heads. Then Chuck Todd got on with his "opinion" to skew it further for Palin, by touting her victory over absolute failure as some kind of supra-positive thing, after which I stopped watching.

Speaking for myself, I'm still absorbing it. I of course liked Biden. He clearly won on "issues". Tho' I grant that Palin didn't blunder too badly, this is just because she stayed within a few virtually contentless memes: - you've godda win wars, and you've godda cut taxes for the rich, and you've godda, by golly, be into the Charismatic Christian Palin phenomenon.

There's no question that the combination Biden + Obama is distinct from Palin + McCain. One which I think justifies a fairly constant 60/40 split in voter preference from here thru' Nov4.

1. Keith's on now
That should help skew it back the other way.

2. Palin was more coherent than I thought she would be - that's the most I can say for her
She didn't change the subject of her sentence midway through, stringing endless unrelated clauses with the word "and", the way she did with Couric.

But she didn't provide any substance behind her positions. Biden did.

3. Chuch Todd: Where did he come from? Who is he?
Why was he the first "spinmeister"... i.e. the most significant; get's to create the first impressions in the minds of the oh-so-impressionable?

His take was weirdly pro-Palin. Again where is he coming from? Said Biden didn't click until midway thru the debate. Huh?

Then... I think it was also NBC.... Lieberman got to spin before McCaskill. Waht's up at 30 Rock?

4. I used to think Todd was being unfairly attacked. Tonight changed my opinion.

5. To use a simile close to home, I would compare Chuck Todd to Mark Penn.
I think they are men of the same kind of principles.
