How Palin "wins" tonight's debate
She is going to have all the right wing talking points primed and ready to
go. She will virtually ignore whatever the question is and bring
everything back to the same four or five points she is being prepped
to make - Obama is too liberal, Biden wants people to pay more taxes to be 'patriotic', etc.

I'm sure she will have some zingers at the ready and I think she will
act confident and knowledgeable and just deflect any questions she
doesn't like or understand and turn them into a chance for her to say
her pre-prepared schpeil.

The pundits then will rave about how she exceeded expectations and got
folks excited about her candidacy again.

1. She's debating from the bow of the SS McTitanic
& Joe is debating from Lighthouse Obama, firmly there on shore.

2. Yes--it's almost like Joe's going to debate an actress whose role is to charm,
heckle and distract. He's certainly not debating an equal, in any sense.

I listened to Naomi Klein on the Thom Hartmann show today.

We all know that Palin can not seriously debate Biden toe to toe on our country’s most serious issues. Instead Klein says Palin will attempt to become the debate victor by throwing Biden off guard by focusing attacks on him as a "liberal". She will also try to portray Biden as weak, and attempt to make him look less masculine. I hope Biden has prepared well for such a low ball attack.

(Naomi said Palin is Bush in drag. lol)

16. I certainly agree with that
In the end, I am fairly confident that Obama is going to be victorious.

That said, I think the "story" after tonight's debate will be how well Palin did for the reasons mentioned.

They will single out one or two "cutting remarks" and that will be the entire "takeaway" from the debate.

I expect to hear a lot of, "She did surprisingly well" and "She more than held her own" and "Joe Biden has to be disappointed with his performance"

It seems to fit with what the news programs want at this point to keep the horse race going.

The media and the republicans, will spend the next four days, stating how well she did and how poorly Biden did.

The majority of us will still be tallying our Palin Bingo cards.

We shall see though.

9. I agree but those sarcastic comments
have all come at rallies. This is a debate and those scripted lines don't translate well esp. if they are given out of context...

8. Remember...
The Moose has to hold herself together for NINETY minutes without drifting off message or repeating herself ad nauseum.

It's basically like a pitcher throwing a perfect game. It can happen, but probably not tonight.

13. No hand wringing - just guessing what her approach will be
As another poster mentioned, in the end, it won't matter.

15. They have simple, easy-to-repeat lines fed to them in advance
I think she will stick to remarks that a team of relatively smart people has spent a good deal of time compiling, crafting, and honing for her to say.

Anyone with that kind of advanced prep and that many people assisting behind the scenes can sound knowledgeable in a 90 second sound byte.
